(Baonghean) - Thanks to the new rural development program, many roads in Nghia Dan have been concreted, village roads and alleys in the hamlets are no longer muddy when it rains or dusty when it is sunny. Instead, there are flat, spacious concrete roads. However, because the roads are beautiful, many people, especially young people, have been careless and speeding, causing many accidents on inter-village and inter-hamlet roads. To limit this situation, people in Tan Mai block, Nghia Dan town have come up with the initiative to build milestones on inter-village roads and make speed bumps.

In 2014, the dirt roads in Tan Mai block were replaced by 5 km wide concrete roads, all with markers and speed bumps. Mr. Tran Dinh Chau, Secretary of Tan Mai Party Cell said: “In fact, in some places, when dirt roads were replaced by concrete roads, people were subjective and drove fast and recklessly, especially young people, so accidents increased. When building the road, people proposed to pay more money to install markers on both sides of the road and speed bumps to limit traffic accidents.”

After the road was built, Tan Mai block also encouraged all people to participate in road protection, and organizations such as farmers', women's and youth associations received self-managed road sections and propagated to members to raise awareness of ensuring safety when participating in traffic. The work of Tan Mai block people was highly appreciated and encouraged to be replicated by the Party Committee and the government of Nghia Dan Town.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thao, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nghia Dan Town, said: “The Party Committee and the town government highly appreciate the consensus and creative approach of the people of Tan Mai block in building rural roads. The town also encourages the blocks and hamlets to protect the roads after building roads and increase propaganda to ensure traffic safety.”

In many localities, after land consolidation and plot exchange, the problem of restoring the fields arose, which was the deep holes left by excavators, affecting the production process. Mr. Le Viet Sy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghia Thinh Commune, said: "As a purely agricultural commune, the majority of the population is ethnic minorities, the economy is still difficult, so to save costs and facilitate people's production, instead of renting machinery, the commune mobilized people to consolidate and plot exchange by labor."

In just 15 days, Nghia Thinh commune mobilized 25,000 working days to build 11,000 cubic meters of soil on 92 hectares of rice fields. As they worked, they leveled the fields. During the mobilization period, each family had at least 2 workers participating in building the banks of the fields. From fragmented fields, now each household only has 1 to 2 fields, the internal roads have been widened to 8m for the main roads and 4m for the secondary roads. Looking at the leveled fields, the internal roads that used to be difficult for 2 people carrying rice to pass each other, are now 8m wide, enough for cars to run all the way to the place, we can see the value of the solidarity and unity of the Party Committee, government and people of Nghia Thinh commune.
