Nghe An players have had bad luck with the national team under coach Park Hang-seo
(Baonghean.vn) - In any period, under any coach, the Vietnam National Team is always full of Nghe An. However, there are also many cases of players who are not lucky with the national team shirt even though their ability and performance are not inferior to stars at other clubs.
Tran Phi Son (Winger)
Midfielder Tran Phi Son, born in 1992, is currently playing for Ho Chi Minh City Club. Under coach Toshiya Miura, Phi Son is a player who is often trusted by the Japanese coach. During the 2016-2017 period in SLNA's shirt, Phi Son was the best player on the team but did not have a place in the national team under coach Huu Thang.
Leaving SLNA to join Ho Chi Minh City Club, Phi Son played 21 matches in V.League 2018, scoring 6 goals and 3 assists, but that was not enough for him to conquer coach Park Hang-seo.
Season 2019,Phi SonInjured and only played 3 matches for Ho Chi Minh City Club, he scored 2 goals and it was an extremely difficult time for this player. The 2020 season started with Phi Son with 8 matches (5 starting matches). Although he did not score any goals, the player from Ha Tinh was a strategic card of Coach Chung Hae-seong every time he was put on the field.

Instat statistics this season show that Phi Son played 464 minutes, had 2 assists, 2/10 shots on target, 85% pass success rate, 71% ball winning rate, and 52% dribbling success rate. Thanks to that, Phi Son ranked 8/35 in the list of left wing midfielders in V.League. Phi Son's score is only lower than other domestic players such as Phan Van Duc and Nguyen Van Quyet.
The last time Phi Son left his mark on the national team was the goal against Taiwan (China), helping the Vietnam team win a dramatic 2-1. And the last time the best young player of Vietnam in 2012 had the honor of wearing the national team shirt was 4 years ago (October 8, 2015), the match between Vietnam and Iraq in the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.
Tran Dinh Hoang (Wing back)
Right backTran Dinh Hoangborn in 1991, currently playing for SHB Da Nang Club. As a player of Vietnam U19 and Vietnam U23, Dinh Hoang is one of the best right-backs in Vietnam from 2013 to 2016. However, at the AFF Cup 2014, due to a nose injury, Dinh Hoang missed the tournament as well as the national team.
At the 2016 AFF Cup, Dinh Hoang suffered a meniscus injury right when coach Huu Thang and his players were preparing for the tournament. Although he is a defender with extremely good physical strength and good attack and defense, injuries have caused Dinh Hoang to miss many appointments with the national team.

In 2019, when the Vietnam national team prepared for the Asian Cup and before that, the AFF Cup 2018, Dinh Hoang was on the preliminary list but in the end, coach Park Hang-seo removed him from the official list. Instead, Trong Hoang, Van Dai and Tan Tai were chosen because of their versatility.
In the most recent training session, Dinh Hoang was also monitored by Coach Park thanks to his good performance in SHB Da Nang. Specifically, he played 874 minutes (10 matches), 1 assist, 82% passing rate, 64% contesting, 69% dribbling. Dinh Hoang's Instat score ranked 7/25, above Tran Van Kien (Hanoi), Bui Tien Dung (Viettel).
Ngo Hoang Thinh (Defensive midfielder)
Midfielder Ngo Hoang Thinh, born in 1992, is currently playing for Ho Chi Minh City Club. This player was once the most prominent face of SLNA, he participated in V.League 2011, started and won the championship with the Nghe An team when he was only 19 years old.
After leaving SLNA, the midfielder joined Thanh Hoa before joining Ho Chi Minh City FC from V.League 2019. In his first season, he scored 2 goals for the team named after Uncle Ho after 21 matches, contributing greatly to the runner-up position. Thanks to his strong physical foundation, fiery playing style, and powerful long-range shots,Hoang Thinhis still a highly rated defensive midfielder in the V.League. Thanks to that, in 2019, he was called up by coach Park Hang-seo but had to return due to pink eye.
However, compared to the top midfielders in V.League at the moment like Cao Van Trien (Saigon), what Hoang Thinh still needs to improve is the ability to connect with teammates on the front line, avoiding unnecessary fouls.
Ho Khac Ngoc (Central Attacking Midfielder)
In addition to names like Hoang Thinh, Phi Son, Dinh Hoang, Khac Ngoc is also one of the players who left the most regrets with fans. In 2017, Khac Ngoc was the best attacking midfielder in V.League 2017 according to statistics from Instat.
In 2018, he was called up to the national team under coach Park and came off the bench in the match against Jordan in the 2019 Asian Cup Qualifiers. However, that was his only match under the Korean coach.

In 2019, Khac Ngoc continued to show a very high performance in SLNA's shirt. In V.League 2020, Khac Ngoc continued to be the "conductor" in Viettel Club's playing style with 2 goals and 4 assists. In the 2020 National Cup, Khac Ngoc was also the decisive factor in bringing this team to the Semi-finals.
In terms of performance, Khac Ngoc may be inferior to players like Hung Dung and Tuan Anh, but compared to other central midfielders that Coach Park favors, such as Huy Hung and Xuan Truong, Khac Ngoc is even better.
