(Baonghean.vn) - Although they come from different hometowns, Pham Thanh Que and Nguyen Quoc Huy were both soldiers. Returning to normal life, the two veterans continue to fight against the "enemy of poverty" and contribute to the development of their homeland.
Kind heart
After 16 years in the army, through many positions, Mr. Pham Thanh Que (born in 1954), in hamlet 1, Khanh Son commune (Nam Dan) always strived to complete his tasks excellently, was trusted by his teammates and recognized by his superiors. In 1988, after an illness that required stomach surgery and long-term treatment, he had to leave the army with a 71% disability pension.

Returning home at the age of 34, despite having just experienced illness,veteranPham Thanh Que is still enthusiastically participating in the movements of the agricultural production cooperative. The organizational, operational and management experiences accumulated during his military service years are now being used to help the Executive Board direct members to organize production. When the cooperative was dissolved, Mr. Que was transferred to become Vice Chairman, then Chairman of the Commune Veterans Association for 20 consecutive years.
Once again, veteran Pham Thanh Que has made constant efforts to learn and complete his tasks excellently. The first thing that everyone recognized was that Mr. Que had learned to use a computer proficiently for his work, which is something that few people at his age can do. All documents and reports were drafted and printed by him himself, without the help of others.

At the same time, Mr. Que has many initiatives in activities, bringing high efficiency to the movements, so the Association of War Veterans of Khanh Son commune is always classified as excellent. Among them, the movement to implement the Campaign "Studying and following the moral example,Ho Chi Minh style", Mr. Que reduced part of his expenses to help Ms. Pham Thi Mai 100,000 VND/month.
Mrs. Mai, a neighbor, is a single woman without husband or children, showing signs of mental illness, and has a difficult and deprived life. In addition, he also helps two poor students of Khanh Son Secondary School with 100,000 VND per month to buy books, notebooks, and school supplies.
Even when the State supported him to repair his family's house, Mr. Que proactively gave it to other families in more difficult circumstances. Mr. Que's heart for the poor and the poor who overcome difficulties is always admired by the people in the commune, becoming an example for everyone to follow.

Mr. Pham Thanh Que's family is also known as a typical example of labor production, economic development and enrichment on his homeland. After leaving the army and returning to his homeland, he decided to stick to the land, the fields and the forests to do business and produce.
He was one of the first households to receive land.economic developmentfarm, raising dozens of cows, goats, pigs and hundreds of chickens, growing hundreds of lemon trees, earning hundreds of millions of dong each year. Veteran Pham Thanh Que also proactively shares techniques and experiences in raising and growing livestock with people in the village and commune to develop their lives and build their homeland together.
Mr. Pham Thanh Que said: “During my work, I have received many titles, recently I was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for my outstanding achievements in gratitude work; I will soon receive the 50-year Party membership badge. My greatest joy is to see my homeland increasingly flourish and develop”.
Exemplary in every way
Born and raised in Trung Den hamlet, Khanh Hop commune (Nghi Loc), enlisted in the army and fought in the Cambodian battlefield, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huy (born in 1959) is known as an active veteran, daring to think and act. At the same time, he is an exemplary citizen, always ready to contribute to the development of his homeland.
After several years of fighting in Cambodia, in 1988, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huy was discharged from the army and returned to his hometown as a disabled veteran with a disability of 35% and a sick soldier with a disability of 71%. At that time, life in coastal areas was still difficult, and the veteran had to do many things to make a living.

With the thought that a soldier cannot surrender to the “enemy of poverty”, he contracted 7,500 m2 of land for aquaculture, deciding to get rich on his homeland. Aquaculture, mainly shrimp ponds, is increasingly effective, providing high output and income, creating conditions for his family to expand the scale of farming and production.
When doing businesstourismIn the coastal town of Cua Lo, veteran Nguyen Quoc Huy opened a seafood restaurant to serve tourists. Thanks to ensuring food safety and environmental hygiene, and reasonable prices, the family business has affirmed its reputation and brand, and more and more customers are coming.

Normally, Mr. Huy's restaurant provides jobs for 10-18 workers with a salary of 5-20 million VND per month, including meals, accommodation and bonuses on holidays. Each year, the revenue is 6-8 billion VND, the family pays taxes and fees to the State and local authorities in full and on time, and is praised by the tax authorities. Mr. Huy's family business model has been learned by many in the locality and has proven to be highly effective economically.
With good economic conditions, veteran Nguyen Quoc Huy and his wife have taken better care of their elderly parents (father 100 years old, mother 93 years old) thoughtfully and wholeheartedly, and are considered filial children. In addition, they have spent a lot of money to support the locality in building infrastructure, building new rural areas, investing in street lighting systems, planting flowers and ornamental plants, and purchasing broadcasting equipment.

Every time the Women's Association,Senior Citizen, Farmers and Youth Union organized the movement, Mr. Huy was willing to support millions of dong for operating costs. He also set up a Facebook account for Trung Den hamlet and was a leading "reporter" on the propaganda front, encouraging people to do business, produce and maintain security and order. Like Mr. Que, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huy was recently awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for his outstanding achievements in gratitude work.
Veteran Nguyen Quoc Huy shared: “I always admire Lieutenant General, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Nguyen Quoc Thuoc, a person of the same family and hometown. I always remember and follow his advice that as long as I have health and intelligence, I will continue to work and contribute to my homeland.
