Party members stick to the people and the fields

(Baonghean) -The party members we are referring to belong to the Party Committee of Nam Nghe An Irrigation Company Limited. Their special work has brought them close to and closely followed the production activities of farmers, contributing to creating golden harvest seasons.

We were present at Hung Chau Pumping Station - Hung Nguyen Irrigation Enterprise, a member unit of Nam Irrigation Company Limited, right when the station's staff was maintaining the pumping system after the summer-autumn crop irrigation service, and the peak period of operation to serve flood control, saving hundreds of hectares of rice in the record rain in early September.

Hung Chau Station is one of the large stations of Hung Nguyen Irrigation Enterprise. The station's facilities include 8 Bulgarian pumping units, including 2 drought-fighting units and 6 flood-control units. The irrigation capacity is 16,000m3/hour, serving irrigation for about 420 hectares of rice in Hung Loi, Hung Chau, and Hung Phuc communes. The station has 12 staff, 3 party members, headed by Station Chief Pham The Linh, who has been in the Party for 26 years. The station's operations are divided into shifts, ensuring 24/7 duty, whether during the peak irrigation season or during the off-season. Sharing about the role of party members in production activities, Mr. Linh said: “Party members play a decisive role in production activities as well as foreign affairs with farmers and local authorities. Each party member is self-aware of his/her responsibilities and roles in his/her work and activities, thereby not only completing professional tasks well but also promoting many initiatives to help save money for the unit. The exemplary behavior and actions of party members are both the driving force to improve the quality of unit activities and the “locomotive” to push the general movement forward.”

Organizing irrigation water pumping in the 3rd shift (10pm - 4am the next morning) is an initiative that has been successfully applied and implemented, bringing practical results in practice. Party member Pham The Linh, the owner of this initiative, said: "Irrigation in the 3rd shift makes our work more difficult. Pump operators have to stay up all night. Irrigation officers at the station and communes have to go check the canals and ditches all night. At first, we encountered disagreement from the communes, but I explained to them. The station staff also rolled up their pants and went to check all night, so we gradually received the agreement and sharing of the local authorities and people. Thus, the task of supplying irrigation water has just been completed, and we also saved electricity bills for the unit by limiting irrigation in the 1st and 2nd shifts."

Station Chief Linh is the leader of a party cell consisting of 12 party members from 6 stations in the inner communes of Hung Nguyen district. Each meeting is an opportunity for party members to thoroughly understand and further imbue their roles and responsibilities towards the farmers who work hard from dawn to dusk, and to be aware that "we are the ones serving the people, the daughters-in-law of the people", so we must speak and behave properly with the people in communication. Since then, the mass mobilization work with the people and local authorities has been carried out relatively well.

At Nghi Loc Irrigation Enterprise, the spirit of party members sticking to the people and the fields is also widely deployed among the staff at the enterprise and pumping stations. Irrigation engineer Cao Van Niem joined the Party in 1995, he is currently working in the Technical Planning team of the enterprise. His professional work is related to the irrigation quality of the pumping station system in the enterprise, so he and his colleagues always uphold the sense of responsibility; check and fix problems (if any) of the canal system, dams to ensure water reaches the fields in time for each crop season. Mr. Niem said: "If the canals are damaged, we must immediately implement a repair plan, not letting people wait for water, affecting crop production. To do so, my colleagues and I must constantly stick to the canals and fields to check and receive timely feedback from farmers". Nghi Loc Irrigation Enterprise manages and operates 5 pumping stations, 8 reservoirs, and 2 bar. The entire enterprise has 13 party members (2 are not official). At the grassroots units, party members always promote their roles and tasks well and are trusted to take on key positions. The activities of the Nghi Loc Irrigation Enterprise Party Cell are highly appreciated by the company's Party Committee. In 2011, the Party Cell was rated as an excellent Party Cell in the company.

The company's Party Committee has 100 members, operating in 8 Party cells, mainly enterprise Party cells. Implementing the Resolution of the Company's Party Committee with the motto: Identifying the main task is to serve agriculture, associated with 3 managements: water sources, works, assets; 4 attachments: stations, canals, people, fields. In 2011, the company completed irrigation of 41,000 hectares of agricultural land, with revenue reaching over 28 billion VND. The above figure has demonstrated the effectiveness of the spirit of "sticking to the people, daring to the fields" which has been thoroughly implemented in the Party Committee and each Party member, cadre, and employee of the company.
