(baonghean.vn)-In Vietnamese history, there are many famous people born in the year of the Dragon. On the occasion of the new year of Nham Thin 2012, we would like to introduce some famous people born in the year of the Dragon:

1.Mac Dinh Chi(Canh Thin age, 1280 -1350). A famous scholar in the Tran Anh Tong dynasty, with the name Tiet Phu, from Lung Dong, Chi Linh district, Hai Duong. Mac Dinh Chi passed the Royal Examination at the age of 24. He served as an official in three dynasties, Anh Tong, Minh Tong and Hien Tong, and was promoted to the position of Left Minister of the Great Union. He traveled to China twice and was praised and admired by famous scholars from abroad.

2.Le Van Linh: Binh Thin (1376 - 1447). Founding hero of the Le dynasty, was appointed to the position of Thai Pho.

3.Phan Thanh Gian: Binh Thin (1796 – 1867). The first doctor in the South, went to France as an ambassador and returned as Kinh Luoc Envoy in Vinh Long. Forced by the French to lose three western provinces, he committed suicide by drinking poison.

4.Truong Dinh, commonly known as Truong Cong Dinh (age of Mau Thin, 1820 - 1864). He was born in Tu Cung, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai. In 1850, responding to Nguyen Tri Phuong's land reclamation policy, he recruited poor people to reclaim land and establish villages. He was appointed by the Hue court as Quan co, 6th rank. He commanded the militia to fight the French in the South during the period of 1859 - 1864. Not accepting the Peace Treaty allowing France to occupy the three eastern provinces, he was honored by the people as the Great Marshal of Binh Tay.

5.Pham Phu Thu,Born in the year of Canh Thin 1820, from Quang Nam, a famous scholar and high-ranking mandarin of the Nguyen Dynasty. He was a good student in all aspects. In 1842, he passed the Huong exam with the highest score. The following year, he passed the doctorate exam and became a mandarin, reaching the rank of Minister. In 1863, he served as Deputy Ambassador to France for negotiations and then visited many European countries (England, Spain, Portugal...). Upon his return, he presented to the Nguyen Dynasty a number of basic reform programs and many books on experimental science, diplomacy and poetry that he composed and recorded during his official career. As an outstanding scientist, he is considered the one who laid the foundation for the natural sciences and applied sciences in Vietnam.

6.Nguyen Quang BichHis given name was Ham Huy, his pen name was Ngu Phong (year of the Dragon, 1832 - 1890). He was born in Trinh Pho village, Truc Dinh district, Kien Xuong prefecture, Thai Binh. In 1869, he passed the Hoang Giap exam and was appointed as Dien Khanh district governor, Khanh Hoa province. He held the following positions: Son Tay judge, Quoc Tu Giam rector, Binh Dinh judge, Son Phong chief envoy and Hung Hoa governor. Responding to the Can Vuong movement, he became one of the leaders of the resistance movement in Bac Ky, was appointed as Minister of Rites, and was in charge of Bac Ky military affairs.

7.Phan Dinh Phung, pen name Chau Phong (age of Giap Thin, 1844 - 1895), son of Pho Bang Phan Dinh Tuyen, from Dong Thai, La Son, Ha Tinh. He was the leader of the Huong Khe uprising (1885-1896) in the Can Vuong movement against the French at the end of the 19th century in Vietnamese history.

8.Nguyen Thuong HienFamous scholar Dinh Nam, alias Mai Son (born in the year of Mau Thin, 1868 - 1925). Hometown: Lien Bat, Ung Hoa, Ha Dong (now Hanoi). He passed the bachelor's exam at the age of 17, and was the top scorer in the Royal examination. While waiting for his name to be announced, Hue fell. At the age of 24, he retook the exam and passed the Hoang Giap exam. Although he passed with a high score, he did not become an official but went into seclusion in the Nua mountain area, Nga Son, Thanh Hoa. He held the position of Toan tu Quoc su, then became the Director of Education of Ninh Binh province.

9.Nguyen Phan Chanh(year of the Dragon, 1892 - 1984), was a famous painter, a master of Vietnamese silk painting. He was born in Tien Bat village, Trung Tiet commune, Thach Ha district, now Tan Giang ward, Ha Tinh city, Ha Tinh province. 10.Tran Phu(age of Giap Thin, 1904 - 1931), the first General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam at the age of 26. He was born on May 1, 1904 in Tung Anh village, Duc Tho, Ha Tinh province. He was a student of leader Nguyen Ai Quoc, who drafted the Party's October 1930 Political Platform, which determined the development path of the Vietnamese revolution. He made many great contributions to the work of Party building and revolutionary organization of the masses. He was a shining example of absolute loyalty to the Party, indomitable before the enemy, and devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

11.Nguyen Luong Bang(alias Sao Do, age Giap Thin, 1904 - 1979), from Thanh Tung commune, Thanh Mien district, Hai Duong province. During 50 years of revolutionary activities, he was captured by the enemy many times. Although imprisoned and brutally tortured, he still fought steadfastly, maintained the spirit of a Communist and persistently worked in the secret organization in the prison. With his heroic and indomitable example, and with his help and thoughtful guidance, he contributed to training many revolutionary soldiers in Son La prison. Hundreds of Party cadres later forever remember the contributions of comrade Sao Do. He held the positions of Vice President, General Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, the first Ambassador of Vietnam to the Soviet Union, and Inspector General of the Government.

12.Dao Duy Anh(1904 - 1988), a famous historian, researcher of culture, religion, and folk literature of Vietnam. Dao Duy Anh was born on April 25, 1904 in Thanh Hoa and died in 1988 in Hanoi. He was the author of many brilliant academic works on linguistics, literature, and history, the most valuable of which is the book "Han - Viet Dictionary".

13.Xuan Dieu(Binh Thin year, 1916 - 1985), real name Ngo Xuan Dieu, born on February 2, 1916, in Binh Dinh, originally from Ha Tinh. He became famous from the "New Poetry" movement with the collections "Poetry" and "Sending Fragrance to the Wind". The August Revolution opened a major turning point for Xuan Dieu's poetic life. A series of poetry collections filled with love for life and humanity were published such as: "Epic" (1945), "National Flag" (1945), "Under the Yellow Star" (1949), "Private and Common" (1960)... In 1996, he was posthumously awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts.

14.Nguyen Van Troi, born in the year of the Dragon 1940, from Quang Nam, a hero against the US. Working as an electrician, he soon became enlightened about the revolution and joined the armed commando organization of the 65th Suicide Company. In early 1964, he went to Rung Thom base (Long An) to study politics and the art of inner-city commando, from which he organized and commanded many battles. On May 9, 1964, while planting mines at Cong Ly bridge to destroy the high-ranking US military delegation led by Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, he was arrested. Unable to shake his will, the Saigon government executed him on October 15, 1964. His patriotism, bravery and heroic death deeply moved the Vietnamese people and the world at that time./.
