Special notes when using Internet Banking
Risks in Internet Banking transactions are always hidden, but are often due to users' negligence and lack of vigilance.
Internet Banking (Internet banking service) is an electronic transaction channel that has been put into use by Vietnamese banks since 2004. Up to now, 42 out of 43 banks have deployed it to serve customers' needs such as: information query, bank transfer, online savings, online loans... anytime, anywhere, at any time when customers only need a network connection and an access device (personal computer, laptop or phone).
In recent times, banks have focused on implementing many security solutions to ensure the safety of e-commerce services. However, the potential risks of transactions over the Internet are partly due to users' negligence and lack of vigilance, especially in unsafe environments. Therefore, to ensure the safety of transactions over the Internet, here are some points that Internet Banking users should pay attention to.
Be careful with public computers
To access your Internet Banking account, it is best to use your personal computer at home and limit your use of public computers and wireless networks as much as possible. These networks often have unforeseen risks.
For example, hackers can use special tools to collect packets in the network, thereby finding personal information of users. Or public computers that have not been installed with anti-virus scanning software can easily be stolen information... Moreover, there are many people in public places, so it is easy to be tracked and peeked when you log in to Internet Banking.
Always keep your password safe.
Change your password as soon as possible after receiving the service activation information to ensure safety when using Internet Banking. Absolutely do not disclose it to others. When using, you should not set the password saving mode when the browser suggests.
Also, do not change your password or log in in public places with many people. When setting a password, do not use easy-to-guess characters such as birth date, phone number, name. Passwords should include uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters.
Change your password regularly and do not write it down on paper or in a place where others can see it. Log out of Internet Banking when you have finished your transaction and close the browser window. Always lock or turn off your computer when you are away from it or leave it unattended for a long time.
Only transact with reputable payment websites.
Hackers can easily get information (name, account number, credit card number...) when you declare on unreliable websites.
Therefore, to ensure safety and security, you should only conduct transactions on licensed and reputable websites. To do so, before deciding to buy products from a website, you should carefully research information about that website. Look for information about the address, contact information... or refer to related news of that website on the Internet.
Never click on links in spam emails.
Spam mails often send you attractive offers, promotional products with prices many times lower than the original price, along with links for users to declare account information and place orders... Therefore, when you encounter these links, you absolutely must not click on them, because many times they are virus programs that will steal your account information.
In case of any suspicions related to impersonation mail, or if you think your personal information has been disclosed, you need to contact the bank immediately for timely support.
Register to use OTP security service
With this service, even if a hacker knows your account name and password, they still cannot log into the ID account system.
Because to log in to the ID account system, you must have an OTP authentication code. This authentication code will be sent to the correct phone number that you have registered for security with the bank. Each authentication code is only valid for one-time use.
When the phone is lost, the customer's account is still safe because to make transactions, it is necessary to log in with a password. However, to ensure safety, the customer should immediately contact the bank to temporarily lock the registered subscription.
