Mr. Lo Trung Tuyen - a representative of the Thai ethnic group, from Chau Tien commune (Quy Chau), is currently holding the position of Permanent Deputy Secretary of Chau Tien commune - a land famous throughout 9 villages and 10 Muong for its traditional brocade weaving. However, the weaving profession in Chau Tien is having to "fight" against the impacts of modern life every day, most clearly shown by the fact that today's youth are no longer interested in traditional costumes and are indifferent to the esoteric weaving profession of their ancestors.

“Faced with that situation, Chau Tien Party Committee issued a resolution on the development of traditional brocade weaving industry so that people can preserve and develop their profession. The provincial Cooperative Union provided financial support, along with the efforts and struggles of some people, especially the elderly who are knowledgeable about brocade weaving, to organize vocational training classes” - Mr. Lo Trung Tuyen thoughtfully shared. Up to now, Chau Tien has 9/9 villages that have opened training classes on dyeing, weaving, embroidery skills... with diverse and rich products such as skirts, scarves, tablecloths, handbags... In the whole commune, 2 brocade weaving cooperatives have been established, attracting a large number of women in the commune to work, with an average monthly income of over 1.5 million VND per person. That amount of money is not much, but the main thing is that people are excited when the traditional profession is promoted, and the skills of the young generation have the opportunity to be honed. However, the thing that the government and people of Chau Tien are most concerned about is the funding to maintain and develop the scale of the cooperative as well as the output direction for the products. "Hopefully, in the near future, the Party and the State will have policies to attract domestic and foreign enterprises to expand the market for the products. When the woven products are turned into commodities that bring in high income, then people will trust and feel secure in sticking with the profession." - Mr. Lo Trung Tuyen hopes.

Also concerned about preserving the cultural values of the nation, but Ms. Lo Thi Nguyet - a representative of the Kho Mu ethnic group (Keng Du commune, Ky Son) confided from a very practical perspective: The Kho Mu people have many unique festivals such as the whole village's going-to-the-field festival, each household's going-to-the-field festival, the rain-praying festival, the new rice-eating festival, the new rice spirit-welcoming festival, the house-frame celebration festival... How to preserve these beautiful festivals and cultural customs while still being in line with the spirit of thrift and civilization of the new lifestyle is something many people are concerned about. The reason for saying so is that in reality, in the area, there have been many cases where households have organized lavishly, exceeding their economic conditions, leading to many consequences such as slaughtering buffaloes, cows, opening hundreds of jars of wine... to have fun for a few days, then the whole family has to struggle because of debt. Therefore, according to Ms. Lo Thi Nguyet, the life of the Khmu people still has many difficulties, their livelihood mainly depends on slash-and-burn farming, in order for people to maintain their traditional culture in a harmonious and appropriate way, grassroots propaganda work needs to be involved. At the same time, the role of Party committees and authorities in building economic models, combined with propaganda of new lifestyles, should be enhanced.

Attending the provincial ethnic minority congress this year, there were delegates from the Dan Lai ethnic group - the "sitting-sleeping" ethnic group that has become a legend. Mr. La Quang Vinh (Thach Son, Thach Ngan, Con Cuong) shared: "Life is now more stable thanks to the support of the Party and the State. People no longer make a living by hunting and gathering; Dan Lai children can go to school, but there are still many bad customs such as dowry, early marriage... many people are still conservative and refuse to change. Our people hope that there will be more and more campaigns, more forms of propaganda combined with cultural activities such as film screenings, art performances... so that people can understand and follow the correct policies of the Party and the State."

Present in the Mong ethnic delegation of Que Phong district, Mr. Xong Ba Cha (D1 village, Tri Le, Que Phong) shared: “In my village, there are 67 households and 335 people. However, in families now, people no longer use the original Mong language. When communicating, they have to use it in parallel, or insert the common language to make it easier to understand. As for writing, almost everyone writes poorly, or does not know it. This makes people like me very sad and worried”. The Mong people do not speak Mong and do not know how to write Mong is a reality. From here, it leads to other consequences such as the loss of ancient songs, traditional customs, secret techniques of blacksmithing, embroidery, how to make dishes for holidays, Tet... In recent years, the Party and the State have created conditions to establish Mong writing classes for villagers and armed forces officers. The Mong script is not difficult to learn, and if learned, can be used in daily communication. “We hope that such classes will be maintained for a long time and have extensive propaganda activities, so that the younger generation of Mong people will not forget their roots.” - Mr. Xong Ba Cha shared...

Recording the thoughts and aspirations of ethnic people is the basis for forming and evaluating policies on ethnicity and religion; at the same time, affirming the people's trust and love for the leadership of the Party and State!
