High-quality, safe, and high-yield rice varieties for the 2026 spring crop from ThaiBinh Seed Group.
In modern agriculture, rice is no longer just a food source for millions of people, but has also become a product associated with quality and safety standards. ThaiBinh Seed Group – one of Vietnam's leading seed brands – continues to affirm its pioneering position by introducing a range of high-quality, safe, and high-yield rice varieties for the 2026 spring crop.
A pioneering brand associated with "golden harvest pearls".
At Da Phuc Cooperative (An Chau commune, Nghe An province), 50 hectares of TBR97 rice variety from ThaiBinh Seed Group Joint Stock Company have been harvested, bringing joy to the farmers. Yields reached 3.5 – 3.7 quintals/sao (1 sao = 360 square meters), with white, translucent rice that is soft, fragrant, and delicious. Ms. Cao Thi Lanh, a member of the cooperative, said: “My family has been growing this variety for two years. We see that the rice flowers quickly, the panicles are large and long, the grains are firm and abundant, the rice is bright, and the yield is superior compared to other varieties, so we are very confident.”
Mr. Hoang Vuong, Director of Da Phuc Cooperative, shared: “The cooperative has introduced TBR97 into mass production for three consecutive seasons. This rice variety grows well, has strong stems, is resistant to bacterial blight and leaf roller, and produces fragrant, sticky rice. While other varieties only achieve a maximum yield of 3 quintals/acre in the summer-autumn season, TBR97 reaches 3.7 quintals/acre.”

Thanks to its short growing season, over 500 hectares of TBR97 rice in Minh Chau commune have been harvested, just in time to avoid the recent storm. This rice variety not only yields high productivity but is also purchased directly from the fields by traders at a price of 8,000 VND/kg (dry rice). Mr. Dao Xuan Tu – Chairman of Minh Chau Cooperative – said: “During the harsh summer-autumn season, with drought and floods, TBR97 still tillered vigorously, had strong stems, resisted lodging well, and suffered from few pests and diseases, requiring less care, thus reducing costs and increasing income for farmers.”
Established in 1972, ThaiBinh Seed has become a leading enterprise in the research, production, and trading of plant seeds. Working alongside farmers and the Vietnamese agricultural sector, the group has built strong trust through dozens of high-yield rice varieties with delicious rice quality, good pest and disease resistance, and adaptability to climate change.
The brand's stature is demonstrated not only in dominating the domestic market but also in expanding into many Asian countries, contributing to raising the value of Vietnamese rice on the international stage.
In line with the trend of developing green, safe, and environmentally friendly agriculture, ThaiBinh Seed is paying even more attention to selecting and breeding rice varieties that simultaneously meet three criteria: high yield, superior rice quality, and safety for consumers. This orientation has helped the group introduce its flagship rice varieties for the 2026 spring crop, which are expected to create a bountiful harvest.

Key rice varieties for the spring crop of 2026
TBR225 – A national quality rice varietyFor many years, TBR225 has been a popular choice for farmers nationwide, thanks to its outstanding advantages: medium growing season (125–130 days in the spring crop), stable yield, translucent rice, soft cooked rice, sweet taste, and mild aroma. This rice variety has been widely cultivated in many localities, with guaranteed purchase agreements from businesses and strong market demand. In the spring crop of 2026, TBR225 continues to play an important role due to its wide adaptability, relatively good pest and disease resistance, suitability for large-scale commercial production, and ability to meet the demand for quality rice.
Thai Xuyen 111 -A rice variety that is extremely cold-tolerant and has outstanding yield:
This rice variety has vigorous growth, strong tillering, good regeneration, large and long panicles with many grains, and high yields that can reach 9-10 tons/ha. The rice grains are translucent, and the cooked rice is sticky and flavorful, helping Thai Xuyen 111 meet both the high-quality production and consumption demands.
TBR97 – A specialty fragrant rice variety
Current consumer trends go beyond simply wanting delicious rice; they also demand rice with a distinctive and unique flavor. TBR97 is an aromatic rice variety researched and developed by ThaiBinh Seed, boasting a natural aroma, soft texture, and a subtly sweet taste, making it highly sought after in the premium rice segment. With a yield of 60–65 quintals/hectare, TBR97 is ideal for building a local specialty rice brand, serving both the domestic market and exporting to demanding markets.
TBR-1 - National Rice Variety of 2006
This is a pure rice variety developed by ThaiBinh Seed Group Joint Stock Company, recognized as a national variety in 2006. Growing season in Northern Vietnam: Spring crop 125-135 days, Autumn crop 105-110 days; South Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands: Winter-Spring crop 110-115 days, Summer-Autumn crop 100-105 days. Average yield is 70-75 quintals/hectare, with good intensive farming practices reaching 80-90 quintals/hectare.
BC15 - A traditional rice variety with sustainable quality.
Over the years, BC15 has maintained a special position thanks to its stability and wide adaptability. Its outstanding advantage is its blast resistance gene, giving farmers peace of mind against common diseases. Yields of 8.5-9 tons/ha, a high milling yield, translucent grains, soft cooked rice, and rich flavor have made BC15 a long-standing rice variety in many key production areas.
There is also the TBR89 variety.,TBR89, a new rice variety encouraged for production in many localities, boasts superior yield, reaching over 70 quintals/hectare, and even 75-80 quintals/hectare in some areas under good intensive farming conditions. The rice plants are sturdy, with long panicles, plump grains, white and translucent rice, and sticky, delicious cooked rice that retains its flavor even when cooled. Importantly, TBR89 meets the requirements of processing and export businesses, making it a promising choice for the 2026 spring crop.

Hope for the spring 2026 crop.
In 2026, the agricultural landscape is projected to present numerous challenges: complex climate change, the potential for pest and disease outbreaks, the need for reduced fertilizer and pesticide use, and standards for safe rice for both domestic consumption and export. ThaiBinh Seed's rice varieties have partially addressed these demands:
FirstHigh and stable productivity helps farmers feel secure in their production and reduces risks.
MondayThe rice is of high quality, with plump, translucent grains and a soft, chewy texture, meeting the increasingly demanding tastes of the market.
TuesdayGood resistance to pests and diseases helps reduce the amount of pesticides used, thereby ensuring food safety and being environmentally friendly.
Furthermore, ThaiBinh Seed also focuses on linking seed production with product consumption. Many localities have signed contracts for integrated rice production and guaranteed purchase with the participation of processing businesses, helping to form a closed value chain and increase farmers' income.
Previous years' production results have proven the strong vitality of ThaiBinh Seed's rice varieties. In many provinces of the Red River Delta, North Central region, and some localities in Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands, this set of varieties has consistently been among the leading varieties. For the Spring 2026 crop, with thorough preparation, the cooperation of cooperatives and businesses, and the support of the agricultural sector, ThaiBinh Seed's varieties will certainly continue to affirm their value.
