1. Nobel Prize in Physics

This year's Nobel Prize in Physics goes to three American scientists: Rainer Weiss, Barry C. Barish and Kip S. Thorne. The trio was honored for building the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) and discovering gravitational waves.
Gravitational waves are ripples in space-time that propagate through the universe at the speed of light, predicted by Einstein 100 years ago in his General Theory of Relativity. Astronomers have been hunting for gravitational waves for decades.
2. Nobel Prize in Chemistry

This year's Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to three scientists: Jacques Dubochet (University of Lausanne, Switzerland), Joachim Frank (Columbia University, USA) and Richard Henderson (University of Cambridge, UK) for developing cryo-electron microscopy for high-resolution structures of cells in solution, helping to simplify and improve the images of biochemical molecules.
3. Nobel Prize in Medicine

This year's Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to three American scientists, Jeffrey Hall, Michael Rosbash and Michael Young, for their discoveries concerning the molecular mechanisms that control the human biological clock. The discoveries of the three American scientists have explained how animals, plants and humans adapt their biological clocks so that they can synchronize with changes in the Earth.
4. Nobel Prize in Literature

The 2017 Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to British-Japanese writer Kazuo Ishiguro. Kazuo Ishiguro (born 8 November 1954) is a British novelist, screenwriter and fiction writer.
Ishiguro is one of the most prominent fiction writers in the English language, having received four Man Booker Prize nominations and winning the 1989 prize for his novel The Remains of the Day. In 2008, Times magazine ranked Ishiguro 32nd on its list of "The 50 greatest British writers since 1945".
5. Nobel Peace Prize

The 2017 Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN). It is a global organization working to promote adherence to and full implementation of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. The campaign was launched in 2007 and today has 468 partner organizations in 101 countries.
6. Nobel Prize in Economics

University of Chicago professor Richard H. Thaler won the 2017 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for his contributions to the field of behavioral economics. By integrating new human perspectives into economic analysis, he has provided economists with richer analytical and empirical methods for understanding and predicting human behavior.
