Bright examples of village elders in Quy Hop
(Baonghean) - In recent years, the movement of "Doing many good deeds" by village elders and prestigious people among ethnic minorities in Quy Hop district has been actively promoted and achieved high efficiency. Currently, the whole district has honored 183 elders with thousands of good deeds. This is one of the specific actions of village elders to effectively implement the Campaign "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh".
One of the most outstanding things that the elders do is to propagate and mobilize their descendants and people to well implement the Party's policies and the State's laws, take care of family economic development, and contribute to building new rural areas. Elder Luong Kim Vung in Na Xai village, Lien Hop commune is 87 years old this year, more than 50 years in the Party, the oldest person in the village and commune. Elder Luong Kim Vung always believes: We must respect and foster solidarity, love and help each other in each clan in each hamlet and village to do well all the work of the family and society. With that in mind, Elder Luong Kim Vung and the elders in the village and commune reminded, encouraged and motivated their descendants to respect, preserve and promote the fine cultural traditions of the Thai people, and at the same time eliminate backward customs to build a new and better life.

With a positive spirit and exemplary role, the village elders have contributed to bringing the Campaign "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh" in Quy Hop to life. In production, the village elders have encouraged people to eliminate old ways of doing business, boldly convert and introduce new varieties of crops and livestock with high productivity and build farms to develop the family economy so that life becomes increasingly prosperous and happy, and children do not have to drop out of school halfway.
Mr. Le Duy Khan, a party member of Xiem hamlet, Ha Son commune, Quy Hop district, said: "To develop the economy, I have mobilized my children and grandchildren to apply scientific and technological advances, effective plants and animals into production, especially sugarcane and rubber trees. Xiem hamlet used to have more than 30% poor households, now it is only 2.7%, and people's lives in the hamlet are quite good. Along with economic development, in recent years, I have seen many children in Xiem village drop out of school, so I have gone to propagate and mobilize, currently the 3 levels of preschool, primary and secondary education have reached 100% and over the years, more than 20 children have passed the university and college entrance exams."
Village elder Mai Thi Bich Lien in Soi Duoi hamlet, Tho Hop commune, originally from Dien Chau district, started her career in the 1980s. Settling down in a hamlet mostly inhabited by Tho ethnic people, but with her affection and responsibility, Ms. Lien's family soon caught up with the lives of the people here. Her family has always been a pioneer in economic development, poverty reduction, and participating in social activities in the locality. From 2006 to now, after attending a veterinary training class, Ms. Lien has focused on developing breeding pigs to develop the family economy and help the villagers. Also in 2013, to donate land to build new rural roads, her family donated more than 500 square meters of land, worth more than 150 million VND.
Ms. Mai Thi Bich Lien told us: “From 2006 until now, I have lent out more than 300 piglets, worth 171 million VND. I am willing to help and exchange with people based on my experience. Elected by the people of Soi Duoi hamlet to the Party Committee, in charge of sectors and organizations, the hamlet deputy head and accountant has just received 114 tons of cement from the State to build the road. I discussed with my husband that if we want the road to be straight, our family should donate a sao of land in the field. In the hamlet's welfare project, in addition to the family's contribution, we also donated 1 million VND to the group and hamlet to pour concrete; more than 1 million VND for the festival. When building a hall and a cooling system, I always donated a few million VND with the hope that my second homeland would be more beautiful.”
