Impressive images from the opening ceremony of SEA Games 31

(Baonghean.vn) - At exactly 8:00 p.m. on May 12, the opening ceremony of the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) - the largest regional sporting event in 2022 officially began.

The ceremony was held solemnly and magnificently at My Dinh National Stadium (Hanoi).

Attending the ceremony on the Vietnamese side were Politburo members: President Nguyen Xuan Phuc; National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue; Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, along with many leaders of the Party, State, leaders of central agencies, Hanoi Capital and leaders of provinces and cities.

On the international side, there was the presence of Singaporean Parliament Speaker Tan Chuan-Jin, ministers, heads of sports delegations from 11 countries participating in the 31st SEA Games, heads of international organizations and ambassadors of various countries.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of athletes and coaches from 11 delegations participating in the 31st SEA Games, competing in 40 events from May 4-23. The Vietnamese delegation alone has more than 1,300 members.

At the beginning of the ceremony, delegates attended the Vietnamese flag-raising ceremony and saluted the flag with solemn rituals.

Immediately after that was a special art program staged on a stage of nearly 8,000 m2.²with the participation of more than 1,000 actors and athletes with beautiful, magnificent images introducing and promoting the unique cultural traditions of the host country Vietnam as well as honoring the cultural identity of the community of countries in the Southeast Asian region, thereby strengthening solidarity, friendship, respect, spirit of dedication and honesty, motivating people's inner strength through sports competitions.

Kình ngư Nguyễn Huy Hoàng được trao vinh dự cầm cờ cho Đoàn Thể thao Việt Nam. Tại SEA Games 31, Việt Nam đăng ký 951 VĐV, nhiều nhất trong 11 đoàn thể thao. Trong đó, có 532 VĐV nam và 419 VĐV nữ. Đoàn Thể thao Việt Nam tranh tài 40 môn thể thao ở kỳ thế vận hội này.

Swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang was given the honor of holding the flag for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation. At the 31st SEA Games, Vietnam registered 951 athletes, the most among the 11 sports delegations. Of these, there were 532 male athletes and 419 female athletes. The Vietnamese Sports Delegation competed in 40 sports at this Olympics.
