What types of Driver's Licenses and age limits are eligible for an unlimited Driver's License?

* According to Clause 1 and 5, Article 57 of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024, there are 3 types of unlimited driving licenses from January 1, 2025 as follows:
- Unlimited driving license of classes A1, A, B1;
- Class B and Class C1 driving licenses are valid for 10 years from the date of issue;
- Driving licenses of classes C, D1, D2, D, BE, C1E, CE, D1E, D2E and DE are valid for 05 years from the date of issue.
Thus, from January 1, 2025, the types of unlimited driving licenses include A1, A and B1.
In which: Class A1 driving license is issued to drivers of 2-wheeled motorbikes with a cylinder capacity of up to 125 cm3or has an electric motor capacity of up to 11 kW; Class A driving license is issued to drivers of 2-wheeled motorbikes with a cylinder capacity of over 125 cm3or has an electric motor capacity of over 11 kW and the types of vehicles specified for Class A1 Driving License; Class B1 Driving License is issued to drivers of 3-wheeled motorbikes and the types of vehicles specified for Class A1 Driving License;
* How old do you have to be to get an unlimited driving license?
The age of drivers and specialized motorbike operators is stipulated in Clause 1, Article 59 of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024 as follows:
- People 16 years of age or older are allowed to drive motorbikes;
- People aged 18 years or older are granted a driving license of class A1, A, B1, B, C1, and are granted a certificate of training in road traffic law to drive specialized motorbikes on the road;
- People 21 years of age or older are granted a Class C, BE driver's license;
- People aged 24 and over are granted a driving license of class D1, D2, C1E, CE;
- People aged 27 and over are granted a driving license of class D, D1E, D2E, DE;
- The maximum age of drivers of passenger cars (including buses) with more than 29 seats (excluding the driver's seat) and sleeper cars is 57 years old for men and 55 years old for women.
Thus, people aged 18 and over are granted an unlimited driving license (class A1, A, B1 driving license).
