New car models coming to Vietnamese people in 2018
The return of BMW, MINI and new models imported from ASEAN will contribute to bringing more choices to car consumers in Vietnam in 2018.
Having "entered" the Vietnamese market at the end of 2017, many new car models with changes and improvements will be distributed on the market in 2018, after completing procedures according to new regulations on car import.

Toyota Wigo
Having appeared at the Vietnam Motor Show 2017 (VMS 2017) held in August 2017, Wigo is considered the name that helps Toyota enter the A-class small car segment, which has been left untouched for many years in the Vietnamese market.

Compact design, equipped with basic features and 1KR-FE engine, 3 cylinders, 12 electronic fuel injection valves, 1.0 liter capacity, Wigo targets young customers who want to own a dynamic and affordable car. After market research at VMS 2017, Toyota plans to officially distribute this model in the Vietnamese market in the first quarter of 2018. Wigo is imported completely from ASEAN to take advantage of import tax incentives.
Toyota Fortuner diesel automatic transmission
The Toyota Fortuner diesel engine distributed since 2017 only has a manual transmission version. According to the plan, the automatic transmission version will be brought to Vietnam in the first quarter of 2018 after Toyota completes the procedures for importing cars according to the new regulations of Decree 116. In the last months of 2017, problems with import procedures caused Fortuner to fall into a shortage of goods, and dealers took advantage of the situation to push up the selling prices of the remaining cars.

Among the 3 versions of the new generation Toyota Fortuner distributed in Vietnam last year, the diesel engine version always accounted for the largest consumption. According to the auto business community, the diesel engine Fortuner is favored by customers thanks to its powerful, economical operation and economic efficiency when doing business.
Honda CR-V 7 seats
Launched in the Vietnamese market in mid-November 2017, the 5th generation CR-V with a 5+2 seat design has been heavily upgraded by Honda in terms of design, equipment, and engine to compete with rivals in the Crossover segment.

In the last days of 2017, the first batch of CR-V cars was imported by Honda to Vietnam to distribute to customers who have ordered this car model. In Vietnam, the third generation Honda CR-V has 3 versions E, G, L with a selling price of less than 1.1 billion VND. According to Honda VN, this car model is equipped with a new 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo engine with power comparable to a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated engine but with lower fuel consumption.
Honda Jazz
The debut at VMS 2017 will be a stepping stone for Honda Jazz to attack the B-class hatchback segment, competing directly with Toyota Yaris. After many missed appointments, Honda Jazz will officially be distributed in Vietnam in 2018.

Suzuki Celerio
With the ambition to break the dominance of Korean car models in the A-class small car segment in Vietnam, Suzuki introduced to consumers the Celerio model at VMS 2017. With a price of 359 million VND, Suzuki Celerio will be officially distributed by the Japanese car company in the Vietnamese market in the first months of 2018.

This compact hatchback has a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder engine with a maximum capacity of 68 horsepower and maximum torque of 89 Nm, integrated with automatic engine shutdown technology when stopping the vehicle to help save fuel and reduce CO2 emissions.
BMW and MINI series
After a period of interruption, luxury car brands BMW and MINI were officially imported and distributed in the Vietnamese market by Truong Hai (THACO) since 2018.

Right in the last days of 2017, the first shipment in the relationship between BMW Group and THACO arrived at Vietnam port. Of the total 55 cars imported by THACO to Vietnam, there are 21 BMW cars, 34 MINI cars, all imported from the US, Germany, UK and the Netherlands. These are all cars imported directly by THACO, not the old cars previously retained by Euro Auto. Besides 3-Series, this batch also includes 430i Gran Coupe, 528i GT, X5 or MINI Cooper, Cooper S, Countryman... The return of BMW, MINI promises to contribute to making the luxury car market more exciting in 2018.
Volkswagen Tiguan 7-seater
The 7-seat version of Tiguan Allspace 2018 has an increased length of 26.8 cm, equipped with a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine priced at 1.699 billion VND and will be available on the market in the first quarter of 2018. In the world market, Tiguan Allspace 2018 is distributed by Volkswagen with 3 versions, including: Trend Line, Comfort Line and High Line. Of which, the High Line version with the highest equipment will be sold in Vietnam.

The Tiguan Allspace uses a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder TSI turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 180 horsepower at 4,400 - 6,000 rpm and 320 Nm of torque at 1,500 - 4,400 rpm. This engine is combined with a 7-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission and 4Motion all-wheel drive system.

Following its predecessor, the XC90, the XC60, the small SUV Volvo XC40 is expected to enter the Vietnamese luxury car market in the third quarter of 2018. Launched in the European market since September 2017, the XC40 is equipped by Volvo with many modern features to compete with rivals in the same segment such as the Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
