Revolutionary Autumn Days
(Baonghean) - During the historic August days, we returned to the revolutionary countryside to feel more clearly the changes on the steadfast lands, once plowed by bombs and bullets, now strongly revived. To calm ourselves with the revolutionary spirit. That is the spirit of 69 years ago, when people rose up from slavery to take control of their own destiny; it is the business spirit of the people who strive to build their lives today...

Under the leadership of the Party, in the years 1931-1945, the people of Phuc My, Hung Chau rose up to fight in harmony with the strong spirit of Phu Hung Nguyen, of the province. Mr. Nguyen Van Uoc (94 years old), a pre-uprising cadre, currently living in hamlet 1 - Hung Chau commune, still clearly remembers: “In those years, the revolutionary movement in this countryside was very high. There were public struggles, there were secret struggles. I still remember when I was young, I followed my brothers to rehearse the play Trung Trac, Trung Nhi and then performed it all over the region. The play was one of the vivid propaganda measures to arouse patriotism, fighting spirit, revolutionary spirit in the people…”.
Phuc My is now very peaceful, there are still village wells, banyan trees, and the relic of Mr. Hoang Vien's house preserved and preserved intact. Village roads and alleys are now 100% concreted; tiled houses, flat houses, and multi-storey houses are close together; production and business are diverse in industries such as carpentry, construction, welding, small-scale industry, and trade and services. In particular, Phuc My is a famous village for making delicious wine. The people here are enthusiastic about business, with an average income per capita of 20.5 million VND/person/year. Life is gradually improving, and the local cultural and sports movement is developing strongly. The people of Phuc My and Hung Chau have been and are making great efforts to build a new countryside. Mr. Le Van Thinh, Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, said: Since the planning, Hung Chau has built 4 more criteria: electricity, market, commercial services, thereby increasing the total number of criteria achieved to 11. Compared to other localities, Hung Chau is having difficulty in building standard schools, standard medical stations, building rural roads, and land consolidation due to historical legacy as well as land characteristics. Although Hung Chau used to be the first to rise up, it is not currently leading the movement to build new rural areas. Each cadre and citizen clearly sees their own responsibility, to raise their determination to contribute to building their homeland. To build new rural areas, many households in Phuc My, Hung Chau have donated land, donated working days, contributed 7-8 million VND... for the common development.
About Quynh Luu district - the first locality in the province to successfully seize power. Here, on August 13, 1945, Quynh Luu District Party Committee held an emergency meeting in Quynh Doi, established an uprising committee from district to commune, initially focusing on the two communes with the strongest Viet Minh bases, Quynh Doi and Son Hai. On August 15, 1945, the two communes of Quynh Doi and Son Hai declared the abolition of the old government, establishing a provisional People's Committee... At hamlet 8, Son Hai commune, meeting Mr. Tran Van Quy, 94 years old this year, 67 years in the party - one of the people who participated in the seizure of power that day, said: "3 days later, the people of Son Hai joined thousands of people from Quynh Long, Quynh Thuan, Quynh Tho, Quynh Nghia, An Hoa to march towards Giat. We brought red flags with yellow stars, banners with the slogan "Long live Vietnam's independence", bamboo sticks, spears, hoes and shovels to surround the district office. Before the strength of the masses of tens of thousands of people, the district chief Chu Ngoc Lien brought bronze seals, cards, and books to the revolution. The red flag with yellow stars was raised, from now on the Quynh Luu government belonged to the people, ending the domination of the imperialists, fascists and their lackeys."
Mr. Quy still remembers clearly the first year after the August Revolution, when the people of the whole district enthusiastically entered the campaign to eradicate hunger and illiteracy, and protect the government. According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Nien, Secretary of the Party Committee of Son Hai commune, the enthusiasm of that year is still the main spirit of today's development. Son Hai is now free from hunger. Mr. Nien said: Entering the new period, Son Hai people focused on promoting economic development with the industries of exploiting and catching aquatic products, developing small-scale handicraft services. Currently, the whole commune has 252 boats of all kinds, mainly large boats over 90 CV operating in the common fishing area; besides, labor export activities are also promoted. In 2013, the total production value of the whole commune reached 367 billion VND, per capita income reached 34 million VND/person/year. The growth rate in the first 6 months of 2014 increased by 15% compared to the same period last year... Leaving the central area of the village of Son Hai commune, we went to Lach Thoi, Lach Quen (Quynh Thuan) where many fishing boats of Son Hai are anchored. In the afternoon of Lach Quen, Son Hai people are preparing to go out to sea, refueling, providing food, and ice for many people. Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, a boat owner, a native of Son Hai commune, confided: "Every trip to sea, we bring with us the tradition and revolutionary spirit to enrich our family, our homeland, and protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the country".
We visited Quynh Doi commune - a studious and revolutionary-rich countryside. This land has given birth to many outstanding and outstanding children for the country and people. Coming to this land of scholars is also an opportunity for Quynh Doi Commune's Education Promotion Association to coordinate with the Women's Union, Farmers' Union, Parents' Association and the Board of Directors of Ho Tung Mau Secondary School to organize a "piggy bank slaughtering" festival to promote learning and talent. From saving money to raise pigs with the money you have, such as saving money for snacks, lucky money... Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quy, Vice Chairman of the Commune's Education Promotion Association said. This year, children in the whole commune raise more than 1,000 pigs, with the amount of money saved on pig slaughtering day reaching nearly 100 million VND.
Walking through the historic autumn days, feeling the joy and daily changes of each life, each fate, each land, we are even more grateful for the achievements that the "earth-shattering" revolution 69 years ago brought. 69 years have passed, but the heroic spirit of the August Autumn Revolution is still a great source of strength on the path of development and integration of our homeland and country.
