Quy Chau
During these days, localities in the district are actively implementing many activities of "Drinking water, remembering the source" such as visiting and giving gifts, organizing health check-ups for war invalids, building gratitude houses for families with meritorious services, receiving martyrs' remains from other localities transferred to the district cemetery... Ms. Hoang Thi Oanh, an officer of the district's Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, said: Along with receiving 595 gifts from the President, more than 50 gifts from Vinh University, Hoang Mai Cement Factory, District Social Policy Bank... sent to policy beneficiaries, Quy Chau district also organized delegations to visit and give 24 gifts to typical policy families. Commune and town levels organized talks, met with policy families, gave gifts, savings books, and mobilized the establishment of a "Repaying gratitude" fund...
In addition to the above activities, every year, all levels, sectors and organizations from district to commune and town create conditions for war invalids to develop production and business, participate in activities, social work, support and help children of families with preferential policies in studying, learning a trade and finding jobs. Thereby contributing to improving and enhancing the material and spiritual life of those with meritorious services and their relatives.
Do Luong
During the resistance wars to protect the Fatherland, Do Luong had more than 46,600 people participating in the army, youth volunteers, and frontline laborers. The whole district has 4,036 martyrs, nearly 5,000 wounded and sick soldiers, over 1,200 people infected with Agent Orange and nearly 200 veteran revolutionary cadres and pre-uprising cadres, 63 mothers were awarded the title of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. In recent times, identifying the importance, meaning, and purpose of the work of "repaying gratitude", all levels and sectors from the district to the grassroots have implemented timely, complete, and accurate policies for policy families, considering this as gratitude and appreciation for heroic martyrs and wounded and sick soldiers. In addition, we regularly organize and launch movements such as: receiving and supporting Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, taking care of wounded soldiers, meritorious people facing difficulties in life, silk shirt movement to give to grandmothers, giving savings books of gratitude, taking care of martyrs' cemeteries, memorial stele houses, lighting candles in gratitude...
In particular, in the 5 years from 2007 to 2012, the whole district had 6 agencies receiving lifelong care for 10 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, organizing the receipt of nearly 9 billion VND of various funds to repair and renovate 876 gratitude houses and comrade houses; organizing visits and giving gifts to nearly 24,000 families with a total amount of nearly 2.2 billion VND; presenting over 3,000 silk shirts and over 1,800 gratitude savings books worth nearly 1.3 billion VND to families with difficult policies; organizing the reception of 915 martyrs' graves searched and exhumed by units from Laos for burial at the Martyrs' Cemetery of Do Luong district.
Hop Thanh (Yen Thanh)
Promoting the tradition of the heroic homeland during the resistance war years, since the country's liberation, the Party Committee and the people of the whole commune have actively implemented the socialization movement of "Repaying gratitude". To help families with preferential policies who are still able to work, the People's Committee of the commune together with organizations have stood up to guarantee loans and provide training in transferring scientific and technological advances in production and animal husbandry, while creating conditions for households to receive fields for cultivation near their homes for convenience in intensive farming, increasing productivity; supporting working days to help single-parent families, those in particularly difficult circumstances, those in sickness and misfortune, repair their houses, gardens, harvest crops, etc. Along with material support, families of wounded soldiers, martyrs and people with meritorious services are also cared for and cared for spiritually, such as encouragement and visits when sick, organizing regular health care, and medical examination and treatment at the commune health station when needed.
Along with the sponsorship of all levels, sectors, organizations, companies, enterprises and kind-hearted individuals, Hop Thanh people also actively participate in contributing tens of millions of VND/year to the "Repaying gratitude" fund. In 2011 and the first 6 months of 2012 alone, 7 gratitude houses were built for families with policies facing housing difficulties, with a total value of money and working days of over 300 million VND; organizing for over 200 policy beneficiaries to take turns to receive treatment and concentrate at the Nursing Centers for people with meritorious services... Thanks to that, up to now in Hop Thanh, 100% of families of martyrs, war invalids and sick soldiers have a good standard of living, there are no poor households under the policy. Every year, over 90% of families meet the standards of cultural families.
