The project to upgrade and expand National Highway 7 was approved by the Ministry of Transport in 2022 with a total investment of more than 1,300 billion VND, although localities have drastically cleared the land. However, to date, there are still many "bottlenecks" that have not been resolved.

The project to upgrade and expand National Highway 7 passes through Dien Chau, Yen Thanh, and Do Luong districts. In Dien Chau, there are still some points that are stuck and have not completed site clearance. Among them, the North-South railway overpass in Dien Phuc commune is one of the most congested points, causing many difficulties for vehicles passing through. Photo: Tien Dong

According to the design, this overpass has 2 lanes and 8 spans, however, to date, some of the western abutments of the railway have not been completed due to site clearance problems. If this overpass project had been completed on schedule, vehicles passing through here would not have had to stop to avoid trains. Photo: Tien Dong

The eastern and western sections of the North-South Expressway passing through Dien Cat Commune are also among the areas where site clearance has not been completed, preventing the construction unit from implementing the project. Photo: Tien Dong

Dien Cat is one of the locations with the most "bottlenecks" in Dien Chau district that have not been resolved yet, as many households have not yet handed over their land, causing many sections to be constricted, affecting the traffic of vehicles. Photo: Tien Dong

Minh Chau commune is also a place where land acquisition and clearance have not been completed in Dien Chau district. Looking from above, it is clear that some un-cleared plots of land are interspersed with the handed-over sections. However, due to the "leopard skin" terrain, it is very difficult for contractors to bring in machinery and equipment for construction. Photo: Tien Dong

In Vien Thanh commune (Yen Thanh), right near the commune People's Committee headquarters, there is a "bottleneck" that has not yet been able to clear land. Photo: Tien Dong

In Bao Thanh commune (Yen Thanh), although the scope of upgrading and expanding National Highway 7 does not affect households (located outside the fence), many households still prevent construction units from constructing the roadbed, only agreeing to the construction of water ditches on both sides. Similar to Bao Thanh commune, in Trang Ke market area (My Thanh), people only agreed to build water ditches on both sides but did not allow construction units to construct the roadbed. Photo: Tien Dong

A section still stuck in the ground clearance in My Thanh commune can be easily seen being narrowed from above. Photo: Tien Dong

Right at the end of My Thanh commune (from Dien Chau district to Do Luong), a "bottleneck" at a used car machinery trading facility has not been resolved. Photo: Tien Dong
