Outdated nutritional concepts!
Nutrition is the basis for health. Paying attention to a balanced diet can reduce cancer by 30-40%. However, in life we make many mistakes in nutrition.
The more nutritious the better?
![]() |
Our bodies need more than 40 types of nutrients, some need a lot, some need a little, some are calculated in grams, some are calculated in micrograms. For example, normal people need 60-90g of protein, manual workers need more than 100g. Calcium needs 800-1000 micrograms, iron 15-20mg.
Therefore, it is not true that the more nutrients you add, the better because the body will eliminate or accumulate them in the wrong "place", affecting the ability to absorb and eliminate other substances.
Divide food into good and bad categories
According to some experts, there are good foods, bad foods, some foods are on the list of “junk foods”, some are called universal foods. This is a very incorrect point of view.
In nutrition, we divide food into 5 main categories, the first is cereals and starches; the second is animal feed; the third is cereals and fruits, nuts; the fourth is green vegetables, fruits; and finally, pure energy foods. Each category provides essential nutrients for the body, we need to combine these 5 foods harmoniously.
Is the more expensive the food, the more nutritious?
![]() |
Food is definitely not the more expensive the better. For example, a chicken egg is much cheaper than an abalone but provides more energy than an abalone. The protein content is the same but the fat and cholesterol content of a chicken egg is higher than that of abalone, the carbohydrate content of abalone is twice as high as that of a chicken egg. The calcium, iron, and selenium content of abalone is more than that of a chicken egg, but the vitamins A, B1, and B2 in chicken eggs are more than that of abalone. Both types do not have vitamin C but have the same niacin content.
From the analysis data, the nutritional composition of abalone and chicken eggs does not have much difference, only the content of each nutrient is slightly different, but the price difference is too much. The price of an abalone can buy dozens of chicken eggs, so it is not true that the more expensive the food, the more nutrients it provides.
Having legs is better than not having legs.
Folklore says: “4 legs are not as good as 2 legs, 2 legs are not as good as 1 leg and 1 leg is not as good as no legs”. Here, 4 legs refer to pigs, cows, goats…; 2 legs mainly refer to chickens, ducks, geese; 1 leg refers to edible mushrooms; no legs refer to water foods such as fish…
However, from a nutritional point of view, 4 legs, 2 legs and no legs are all animal foods, the protein content of the 3 types is high, the iron content is the same. The fat content of pork is quite high, which may not be very welcome, but the vitamin B1 in pork is higher than other foods. Although mushrooms are low in fat and energy, the protein, iron, selenium, and vitamin A are all less than the other 3 types.
