MC My Van's 'laugh-out-loud' incidents while hosting live
Every profession has occupational accidents, but MCs often have "funnier" accidents because they happen in front of the public.
My Van is currently an MC for Vietnam Television (VTV), having hosted many national events, especially live TV shows such as:Music Road, Music Rendezvous, Sound of Life, Sao Mai...
During her career, MC My Van encountered many "funny" accidents which she recounted in her book. How I Became an MC - Career Tips for Those Who Want to Be an MC.VietNamNet would like to quote.

Occupational accidents, yes or no?
With water…
Every profession has its own occupational accidents, but MCs are more “humorous” because they happen in front of the public. And some accidents are completely out of your control, so if you can’t handle it, you have no choice but to take the hit.
Just recently, I hosted a show at Thien Cam beach (Ha Tinh). A few days ago, the weather was clear and beautiful. Even in the afternoon, during the rehearsal, the weather was still very beautiful, but in the evening, about 1/3 of the show, the weather changed. It started to rain like it had never rained before. It rained heavily, so hard that all the actors were soaked from the inside out.
Everyone was worried about whether the show could continue because the wind was blowing so hard. But somehow, in that show, the audience stayed with the actors from beginning to end. Even though it was raining heavily, the audience did not leave. Maybe because the audience felt sorry for the artists and wanted to share their hardships. That day, I wore a long, flowing mermaid dress, but when it rained, it stuck to my body, and it was not beautiful at all. All I knew was that when I walked, it was like walking on rocks because of the rain and the cold.
At that moment, I felt like a mermaid, but a mermaid… caught in a net! By the time the performance was over, I could no longer walk in high heels and had to take off my shoes, hold my skirt in one hand, hold my shoes in the other, and walk barefoot through water up to my calves to get back to the hotel, looking even more “Cinderella” than Cinderella in the fairy tale. And that look was performed right in front of the audience who were still sitting, and I couldn’t be happy anymore because I was busy running from the rain.
With fire…
In addition to water accidents like that, there were also fire accidents! During a festival program, after the welcome speech, the organizers shot electric fireworks up from the stage and down from the lighting frame. Unfortunately, I was hit on the head by a spark from the fireworks, that spark burned like a candle on my head and I was so busy leading that I didn't notice. Only when everyone screamed in panic did I feel the pain, it turned out that the fire had caught on my hair and burned like a jet, almost losing a piece of hair.
With animals…
Then one time, I was broadcasting live in the studio, and for some reason a fly kept buzzing in front of me, which distracted me a bit, but I kept telling myself: “Leave it, leave it, LEAVE IT!!!”. But the fly must have been flying so much that its wings were tired and it decided to “sit down on the chair to rest”. And the place it chose to rest was my forehead.
Oh well, I couldn’t raise my hand to wave it away, nor could I shake my head because it was live TV. So I had to let the fly travel on my forehead, and it tickled so much it was disgusting. At that moment, I just hoped the director of photography would capture the whole scene and not a close-up of the MC’s face…
And with colleagues…
Now this “accident” is no less funny. That was the time I was a double host with Danh Tung. Danh Tung has a characteristic of sweating a lot and always has to have a piece of paper in his hand to absorb sweat continuously. That day, the paper got wet and melted and a piece of paper was stuck to the corner of Tung’s mouth. When Danh Tung went on stage, he said his first greeting, I was standing next to him and looked over and saw the “accident”.
So Tung was leading, and I was silent, my eyes still looking at the audience but I deliberately mumbled without moving my lips, "Tung, my nose is stuck with paper." When it was my turn to lead, I stole a glance at my younger brother and saw his hand touching his nose to find a way to remove the paper as my older sister warned, but I couldn't say anything more (because my mouth was leading).
After I finished my part, it was Tung's turn. At that time, I was free so I whispered again: "You're wrong, it's on the mouth, not the nose." But Tung finished his part and it was over, the two of us went in and couldn't help but laugh and Tung "blamed" me: "You remind me but it's useless, I keep wiping my nose." Luckily, I'm an MC and not a doctor, if I were a doctor and mistook the patient's mouth for his nose, the consequences would be much more serious!
But our grandparents have a saying: "necessity is the mother of invention". The difficulties in the MC profession have given me more experience, more flexibility, and the ability to handle difficulties when hosting a program. You see, every profession and every person has advantages and disadvantages, and so do MCs. But for me, MC is a very special profession, which I have been attached to for a long time without ever feeling bored.
