(Baonghean.vn) - Although not directly fighting on the front line of crime suppression, in the common achievements of Nghe An Provincial Police force, there are always silent contributions from the medical team, the police officers wearing white blouses.

Recognizing the importance of health care for officers, soldiers and people, over the years, the Party Committee and leaders of the Provincial Police have always paid special attention to directing and investing in increasingly modern facilities and equipment. Along with that, improving the professional qualifications and skills of the medical staff.

Lieutenant Colonel, Doctor Nguyen Sy Tai, Director of the Provincial Police Hospital, said: With the attention of the Ministry of Public Security and the Provincial Police, in recent years, the Hospital has invested in building modern facilities and equipment with a scale of 120 quality beds. Currently, the hospital has 47 experienced doctors, nurses and technicians. In 2023, the Hospital examined more than 8,000 patients, conducted periodic health examinations for more than 2,000 cases; examined admissions and military recruitment for 1,000 cases; organized vaccinations for 1,043 officers and soldiers.

In addition, the hospital has done a good job in disease prevention and control, making an important contribution to preventing and not allowing epidemics to affect the health and fighting capacity of officers and soldiers. Implementing the motto of "focusing on the grassroots", the Provincial Police Hospital organizes many volunteer activities, actively participates in community health activities, and provides free medical examination and treatment to nearly 700 people from ethnic minorities, remote areas, etc.

Being a doctor, in any environment, is stressful, even life-threatening. For the medical team working in detention facilities, who come into daily contact with prisoners and inmates suffering from all kinds of illnesses, including many dangerous diseases such as tuberculosis and HIV, the pressure and danger are even greater.

Lieutenant Colonel Cao Ba Tu, a medical officer at the Detention Center (Nghe An Provincial Police) - who has been in the profession for 24 years, confided: When examining prisoners, in addition to the professional duties of a doctor, we also have to be very sensitive, promptly grasp the psychological and ideological developments to encourage, persuade, and advise them to comply with the regulations of the Detention Center, especially for prisoners who have just entered the camp and whose psychology is not yet stable.

Lieutenant Colonel Tu added that there are very dangerous subjects, who have committed especially serious crimes, have many criminal records, and have highly contagious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, hepatitis B, etc. with extremely complicated clinical manifestations. There are even prisoners who have diseases but have an opposing attitude and do not cooperate with medical examination and treatment.

In such cases, doctors and nurses must be both firm and skillful, advising and encouraging them to realize that only by receiving treatment and having good health can they be assured of good rehabilitation and soon return to their loved ones and families. Thanks to these "spiritual" medicines, prisoners have more determination, overcome their inferiority complex, and reform well.

Currently, the Provincial Police Detention Camp Infirmary has 10 doctors and nurses. Every day, medical staff monitor, examine, diagnose, treat, and dispense medicine to prisoners in their cells (outpatients) and in the Infirmary (inpatients) with more than 1,000 prisoners in the entire Camp. In addition, medical staff are also on duty to regularly check the health of prisoners when they enter or leave the Camp; perform well the work of food hygiene and safety; environmental sanitation, disease prevention, etc.

Despite facing countless dangers, difficulties, and pressures, with the motto "prisoners are also patients like any other patients in society", the doctors and nurses of the Detention Camp Infirmary of Nghe An Provincial Police still devote themselves to examining and treating "unlucky" patients every day. Because, according to them, it is not only the conscience of a doctor but also the responsibility of every officer and soldier of the People's Police.

Working in an equally difficult and dangerous environment is the team of forensic doctors, the Criminal Techniques Department of the Provincial Police - the silent people, serving the investigation and solving of cases, contributing with the Investigation Agency to bring the truth to light. Although there are many difficulties, hardships and many sacrifices that are difficult to express in words, the team of forensic doctors of Nghe An Provincial Police always firmly believe in the path they have chosen, quietly dedicating themselves with the spirit of "Respecting the law", for justice, reason, contributing to bringing trust, peace and happiness to the people.

With over 20 years of experience, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Hai, forensic doctor, Deputy Head of the Forensic Team, Criminal Techniques Department, has participated in the investigation of thousands of cases, each case has a different scene, location, and difficulty. According to Lieutenant Colonel Hai, this special job requires forensic officers to be responsible, have high professional qualifications, good professional skills, and an objective, meticulous, and accurate spirit to "unlock" the most difficult details. Many serious and especially serious cases require quick and early resolution, ensuring accuracy, especially cases that are of public interest.

The work is both regular and sudden, unexpected, and involves many toxic factors. Forensic doctors must be brave and have a “spirit of steel”, overcome all difficulties, contribute to decoding bottlenecks, and help the Investigation Agency handle crimes with the right people, the right crimes, and the right law. In particular, each forensic doctor must overcome psychological barriers and the fear of those around them about the profession of forensic doctor…

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Hai

Despite the hardship, with a sense of responsibility and love for the profession, the officers and soldiers are honored to wear two colors, the blue shirt of the People's Police and the white blouse, still working hard every day, every hour to fulfill their two responsibilities. Their silent dedication has added to the feats and achievements of the entire Nghe An Provincial Police force in the struggle to protect national security, for the peace and happiness of the people.
