(Baonghean) - Recently, Tan Ky has seen the emergence of many large-scale livestock farms with diverse livestock such as Australian cows, dairy cows, foreign pigs, wild chickens... worth tens of billions of dong. Most of the farm owners have close connections with each other and are greatly assisted by the locality in land and contact with purchasing enterprises.

Dairy farming – a new revolution

The afternoon in Nghia Hop commune (Tan Ky) is as peaceful as any other village, every family goes to the fields and returns home, in the yard women and men play volleyball after a hard day's work. But for dairy farmers in Nghia Hop hamlet 3 and Nghia Dong, Tan Phu, the afternoon is the busiest time after feeding the dairy cows, which is cleaning the barn, cleaning the cows, the milking area and preparing for milking - the new and most important job for the families. After waiting about 30 minutes, Ms. Le Thi Luong in Nghia Hop hamlet 3 finished cleaning her herd of 8 milking cows.

Ms. Luong said that the milk is milked by machine, poured into a specialized bottle, everything must be done cleanly, then the milk is stored in the refrigerator, the next morning at 2-3 am the milking process continues and is immediately imported to the Vinamilk factory... Ms. Le Thi Luong's family has 8 milking cows, one cow gives 25 kg of milk a day, 8 cows give 1.5 to 1.6 tons of milk/day, so each month her family is paid more than 60 million VND for milk by Vinamilk Company. Now every month, like every other month, they have "salary" money and save to invest in the farm and develop the herd of cows.

The work of dairy farmers is very demanding. They go to cut grass, chop corn, come back to cut grass, cut corn with a rotating machine, then feed, clean the barn and milk... but in return, the very high income is a source of encouragement for them to overcome difficulties to learn and get rich. The collected manure is bought by people from other communes to fertilize rubber, coffee, oranges, corn... The water used to clean the barn is also bought by people, transported to the tank to be taken away. Mr. Nguyen Van Manh, hamlet 3, Nghia Hop, has 5 dairy cows. From a poor family, he now earns 15 million VND a month from milk. The members of the Nghia Hop Dairy Cooperative (Tan Ky) are all very busy with a new way of doing business, "revolving" all day with the dairy cows, having more hurried meals, sleeping less at night, waking up at 2am to milk in time to transport the milk to Nghia Mai Commune (Nghia Dan). At exactly 5am, all households bring fresh milk to the house of Mr. Nguyen Hong Son, the head of the cooperative, to collect it all.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Son, Chairman of Nghia Hop Dairy Cooperative, said: The work is hard but there is motivation to work, everyone is excited. Currently, the herd of cows in Nghia Hop and 2 more households in Tan Phu joined the cooperative is more than 60 cows, milk production reaches 7-8 quintals/day. All initial difficulties were supported by Vinamilk factory staff, such as veterinary, breeding instructions, diseases... The cooperative members are all for each other, help each other, give each other information, experience, every household wants to develop a larger herd of cows to achieve a production of 1.5 to 2 tons, making it easier for the factory to place tanks. It was dark but at the chairman's house, there were still a few people coming to the house hoping to join the cooperative.

Chairman of Nghia Hop commune, Mr. Vo Van Loi said: Chairman of Tan Ky district People's Committee together with the agricultural department, commune and households have worked with Vinamilk dairy factory, Nghe An branch to have the factory purchase milk for the cooperative, at the same time orienting the development of dairy cows in the locality as a new and advantageous profession. The district is planning to develop the herd of dairy cows in the area to 1000. The attention of local authorities makes dairy cow farmers very secure.

Nghia Hop is a poor commune of Tan Ky district, more than 20 km from the town, the land is mainly hilly and uneven. People have done many jobs, grown many crops such as rice, squash, cassava, corn, etc. Now, the addition of dairy farming is like a breath of fresh air, people know for the first time the "salary" paid in ATM cards, children get to drink hot milk and above all, the busyness and eagerness to learn about livestock and veterinary techniques of farmers in mountainous areas.

Mr. Nguyen Nhu Ky, Deputy Head of the Agriculture Department of Tan Ky district, said: Tan Ky also has an Australian cow farm with a scale of over 300 cows located in the mountains, far from residential areas, with an investment of 12 billion VND, and 10 chicken farms with a scale of 1,000 - 5,000 cows/batch. With the appearance of many farms, Tan Ky's food supply is abundant and all have outputs. Besides, it creates additional jobs for many other professions. Recently, Tan Ky has seen the appearance of many large livestock farms. The largest pig farm in Tan Ky with a scale of 2,400 pigs belongs to Ms. Le Thi Thanh, Hamlet 10, Nghia Hanh commune. This is a planned pig farm located in the mountains, far from residential areas, with a total investment of billions of VND. The farm is installed with a heating system in winter and a fan in summer. Pigs are raised over 100 kg before being sold. The farm has workers taking care of it according to the process of CP Thailand, providing male pigs for breeding to the local area and pork pigs are purchased by CP Company (Thailand).

Tan Ky currently has 477 small farms, of which 48 meet the standards of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The farms are all cared for by the local government. Every year, the district creates conditions for farm owners to meet, exchange information, and thereby connect with each other and contact each other to ensure output for their farms nationwide.

According to Mr. Pham Van Hoa, Chairman of Tan Ky District People's Committee, "Tan Ky focuses on developing farms for a reason: cultivation is difficult, drought and natural disasters often threaten, while farm owners who have invested heavily are very concerned about protecting their industries, they invest in cold and heat protection, veterinary care, and disease prevention. Moreover, farms contribute to creating great value in agricultural production. Tan Ky strives to have 200 farms that meet the standards of the Ministry of Agriculture by 2020."
