When entering each competition, contestants must prepare themselves thoroughly. However, Huynh Thi Thuy Dung was not well prepared in terms of health, mentality, and costumes.

In the early days, the busy schedule made her feel tired and pressured. Due to the tight schedule, Thuy Dung only brought 3 dresses with her to the Southern final round. At the end of each day, she had to change and wash them immediately to be ready for other trips.

Later, when she entered the competition, Thuy Dung received support from her family and friends in choosing her outfits. She appeared more and more confident and beautiful. Miss Foreign Trade shared that before that, she only knew jeans and T-shirts.

Besides, another interesting story related to Thuy Dung is that she had to work hard to convince her father to allow her to participate in the Miss Vietnam contest. The second runner-up shared: “At first, I planned to secretly submit my application, but my father was the one who kept all the documents in the house, so I couldn’t. Therefore, I thought very carefully and spent an evening to convince my father. I wanted to show my family my maturity, my desire to learn and experience more myself."

Similar to Thuy Dung, two contestants Nguyen Thuy Linh (SBD 118) and Nguyen Cat Nhien (SBD 188) also went to the contest without their relatives knowing. However, in the end, their families were still the most loyal and enthusiastic audiences and a solid support for them.

Runner-up Thanh Tu lost weight quickly

In order to shine in the Miss Vietnam contest, many contestants have made efforts to lose weight. First runner-up Ngo Thanh Thanh Tu and contestant Nguyen Huynh Kim Duyen both lost 6-7 kg within a month with a strict exercise and diet regimen.

Kim Duyen shared: “Because my passion for Miss Vietnam is so great, I am determined to lose weight and change myself to make my dream come true. Although sometimes I am so tired that I want to give up everything, it is the encouragement and expectations of my family that motivate me to try my best.”

Interesting coincidences

In the two rehearsal nights before the final, Huynh Thi Thuy Dung was drawn as the second runner-up, and this was also the result of the final night on August 28. Thuy Dung was also the only beauty in the top 3 to receive the additional prize of Talented Beauty.

Ngo Thanh Thanh Tu followed her sister Tra My to become first runner-up, becoming the first pair of runner-up sisters in Vietnam.

Another interesting coincidence is that the new Miss Vietnam Do My Linh has the same name as the short-haired diva My Linh. Before that, in 2014, Miss Ky Duyen also had the same name as the famous overseas MC Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen. In addition, Ky Duyen and My Linh were also classmates at the Foreign Trade University in Hanoi and used to participate in the same club.
