Niger rejects extradition request for Gaddafi's son
Niger Prime Minister Brigi Rafini on September 29 reaffirmed that Niger does not accept the request to extradite Mr. Saadi Gaddafi, son of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, who is residing in the country.
Previously, the international police organization Interpol orderedwantedMr. Saadi Gaddafi at the request of the new government in Libya.
Afrik magazine quoted Prime Minister Brigi Rafini, who is visiting France, saying that Saadi Gaddafi is currently in a secure and safe place in Niamey, the capital of Niger, under the control of the State of Niger and at this time, there is no question of his extradition to Libya.
Mr Saadi, 38, is accused of "embezzling property by force and armed intimidation while he was head of the Libyan football federation".
Mr. Saadi used to play for clubs like Perugia and Juventus in Serie A (Italy) but was later banned from playing because he was found to be using stimulants.
Earlier this month, Saadi and a number of officials loyal to the Gaddafi regime fled to neighboring Niger and sought political asylum there./.
