Bomb explosion in Khanh Hoa, at least 6 people died

Khanh Hoa province leaders confirmed that this morning (August 18), a large explosion occurred in the locality, suspected to be from a sawed bomb, killing 6 people and seriously injuring 2 others.

Confirming with VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Bong - Chief of Office and Spokesperson of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee confirmed: At 9:30 this morning in Ta Lua village, To Hap town, Khanh Son district, a particularly serious bomb explosion occurred.

"According to the information we received from the district authorities, the explosion killed 6 people and injured 2 people, including 1 person with serious injuries that could be life-threatening," the spokesperson of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee confirmed.

According to initial information, the bomb explosion may have been caused by people organizing to saw off bombs left over from the war.

Of the 6 people who died, 3 were initially identified as adults and 3 were children. The 2 injured people have just been taken to Cam Ranh Regional General Hospital for emergency treatment.

This morning, representatives of the provincial People's Committee and Khanh Son district authorities were present at the scene, organizing encouragement and support for the victims' families. Currently, local police and military forces have been mobilized to the scene to block off and investigate the incident.

At 12:30, answering VietNamNet, Nguyen Huu Tho - Chief of Office of Khanh Son District People's Committee informed that the district government has known the identities of 6 victims who died and 2 victims who were injured in the bomb explosion. However, Mr. Tho said that only after the forensic examination, the government will have official information.

According to the leader of Khanh Son district, the particularly serious explosion occurred due to people touching explosive materials, which were bombs. However, the origin of the bomb and when it was made will be clarified by the authorities after completing the investigation at the scene.
