Efforts to improve the quality of life

(Baonghean) - Nghia Dong Commune (Tan Ky) was awarded the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” and many other noble awards by the State. With outstanding achievements in the new rural construction, in 2014, the commune was awarded the flag by the Prime Minister for leading the emulation movement.

20 km from Tan Ky Town center, Nghia Dong commune has a natural area of ​​1,704 hectares, of which agricultural land is 936 hectares, population of 9,600 people with 2,050 households distributed in 15 hamlets. The Party Committee has 21 Party cells with 408 Party members, many years in a row achieving the title of Strong and Clean Party Committee. Although it is a purely agricultural commune, the average income reaches 25.6 million VND/person/year (as of June 30, 2015), the number of poor households has decreased to 2.9%. Achieving this achievement is the result of the active efforts of the Party Committee and the people of the commune.

Identifying the task of economic and social development as the focus, Party building as the key, in recent years, Nghia Dong commune has promoted agricultural production, improving people's lives. At the same time, it has focused on improving people's knowledge, promoting national cultural identity, maintaining political security and social order for comprehensive development. Nghia Dong commune was chosen by Tan Ky district as a point for new rural construction (NTM). This is an honor and responsibility that poses no small challenges, because when embarking on this project, the commune only had 8/19 criteria meeting NTM standards; many basic criteria have not been achieved such as: Traffic, irrigation, schools, cultural facilities, people's income...

To effectively implement the "New Rural Construction Project", the Party Committee, the People's Committee, and the Commune Steering Committee have focused on planning well, successfully implementing land consolidation and plot exchange in the direction of "villages adjacent to fields, houses on one plot". To have large-area fields to mechanize agricultural production, the commune has planned concentrated production, creating a large source of goods, including 350 hectares of intensive sugarcane cultivation, 80 hectares of mulberry fields, 350 hectares of large-scale rice fields, 100 hectares of planned commercial cattle farms, and up to now, 35 farms have been moved to the fields, far from residential areas to avoid environmental pollution. In the commune, from 9,000 fields, only 2,500 have been converted.

After 4 years of economic transformation, agricultural production has increased 1.7 times, in 2010 the total agricultural economic income was 42.5 billion VND; in 2013 it increased to 71.5 billion VND. From 45.6 million VND/ha in 2010, it increased to 80.29 million VND/ha in 2014. The commune's agriculture has been effective and has a stable output, so the people are happy, excited, and actively participate in the national target program of building new rural areas. The Party Committee and the entire political system have joined in, mobilizing the entire population to build 45 km of concrete roads worth 33 billion VND. In the mobilization work, the Steering Committee has mobilized 20 households to voluntarily donate 10,000m2 of land worth 5 billion VND. In particular, the commune maintains good relationships with businesses and philanthropists such as: Mr. Phan Ke Toai, working in Hanoi, supported 2 billion VND to build a school; Mr. Tran Dinh Hong, working in Ba Ria Vung Tau, invested 500m of concrete road and 200 million VND to build a cultural house in hamlet 7; two companies Hung Tien and Quy Van located in the area supported the locality with 1 km of graded road, worth more than 600 million VND. In recent years, the commune has promoted the motto "State and people work together", mobilizing hundreds of billions of VND to build new rural areas, focusing on the fields of electricity, roads, schools and stations. The commune mobilized all resources to build 40 high-rise classrooms, 10 grade 4A classrooms with a total investment of 18 billion VND. Up to now, all 4 schools in the commune have met national standards. Including Nghia Dong 2 Primary School which has reached national standard level 2, Nghia Dong Secondary School is building a "Heroic Unit in the renovation period".

With the joint efforts of the people, up to now, 15/15 hamlets in Nghia Dong have built cultural houses, playgrounds, and spacious community activities that meet the new rural standards. The annual rate of cultural families reaches 98%; 14/15 hamlets have achieved the title of Cultural Village; 85-90% of houses have been newly built, the whole commune has 160 high-rise buildings, the rural appearance has changed a lot, the hamlets are clean, beautiful, and civilized. In November 2014, the commune completed 19/19 new rural criteria, on November 24, 2014, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Decision No. 6536/QD-UBND recognizing "Commune meeting new rural standards" for Nghia Dong commune.

In the process of building the new rural area, party members have always been exemplary pioneers, actively participating in contributing money and effort with the people to complete the construction projects. In recent years, Nghia Dong commune has always received the attention, leadership and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee, District Party Committee and People's Committee of Tan Ky district. To achieve the results as today, the most important factor is that the commune has promoted solidarity, unanimity, "Party's will meets people's will", people clearly perceive themselves as the main subjects in building the new rural area. Throughout that process, the commune has always promoted democracy, aroused people's strength, created a combined strength to complete the set targets and plans.
