Crowds go to Snake Temple to pray for luck
(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of the second day of the Lunar New Year, at just over 6am, Duc Hoang Temple (Phuc Thanh-Yen Thanh) where the Snake God, famous general Hoang Ta Thon and many other gods and human gods were worshiped, was bustling with people from neighboring communes and districts coming to pray for good luck at the beginning of the year.
At 7am, the altars were filled with offerings. Streams of people followed each other to visit the temple and make offerings. Everyone believed that going to the temple was not simply about making wishes, “seeing what one wishes for”, but that there, people also had precious moments to immerse themselves in the spiritual place, leaving behind all the hardships and difficulties of everyday life. Not only the elderly, but also children were allowed by their parents to go along to learn more about customs and practices. Everyone sincerely prayed for happiness, peace, and good luck at the beginning of the year for themselves and everyone else.
For people from the rice fields, going to Duc Hoang Temple at the beginning of the year is deeply ingrained in the subconscious, a beautiful traditional cultural feature, creating a colorful picture in an advanced culture imbued with national identity.
