On October 11, Hanoi Court brought Luu Quoc Chien (born 1968), residing in Ha Dong district, Hanoi, to trial for murder.

According to the case, on the night of late April 2012, Luu Quoc Chien and his friends went to eat pho on Thai Ha street, Dong Da district, Hanoi.

At this time, Mr. Do Thanh Viet (born in 1973), residing in Dong Anh district, Hanoi, was invited by Chien's friend to eat together.

While chatting at the pho restaurant, Chien and Viet had a conflict when Viet was accused of using drugs. The conflict did not happen because everyone intervened.

The group then went to sit at a coffee shop near the National Cinema Center. While drinking, Chien and Viet got into another argument about Viet's drug use.

Chien was about to get in a taxi to leave when Viet still challenged him. Angry, Chien rushed towards Viet. Viet picked up a glass bottle from the coffee shop and hit him straight in the head. Angry, Chien opened his leather bag, pulled out his pistol and fired two shots, but both bullets missed Viet.

At this time, his friends rushed in to hug him to stop him, but Chien continued to fight back and shoot, but the bullets did not go off.

As for Viet, he also rushed towards Chien, one hand holding the bottle, the other trying to grab the gun. Chien continued to pull the trigger. One bullet went through the palm of his left hand, the other bullet hit Viet's right shoulder.

Shot twice, Viet ran away. Although everyone tried to stop him, Chien still said: “… Viet, kneel down and I will spare you.”

Late that night, Chien went to Viet's house. Standing outside the gate, he threatened: "Where is Viet? I'll kill you." After standing there for a while, Chien left, and Viet was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.

After committing the crime, Chien fled to Lao Cai. Dong Da District Police, Hanoi issued a wanted notice. On October 13, 2015, Chien was arrested.

For his hooligan murder, Chien was sentenced to 14 years in prison by the People's Court. Regarding the murder weapon, because it was not recovered, the investigation agency did not have enough grounds to prosecute him for Illegal possession of military weapons./.
