Shooting at an American university, 1 student killed
On January 21, a shooting occurred on the campus of Purdue University in Indiana, killing a male student.
The perpetrator was arrested shortly thereafter.

According to authorities, the perpetrator entered the basement classroom and opened fire on the victim.
Police believe this was a targeted attack as there were no other victims. It is likely that the perpetrator and the victim were acquaintances.
Immediately after the shooting, Purdue University administrators placed the university on alert.
However, just two hours later the alarm was lifted, and all school activities returned to normal except for the building where the shooting occurred.
Indiana Governor Mike Pence sent his condolences to the victims' families and called the shooting a tragedy.
