The extreme pain of the family of the woman who went to save the burned forest

A woman in Nghe An died while fighting a forest fire with her son.

(Baonghean.vn) - Information from the Nghe An Provincial Forest Protection Department said that this afternoon (June 30), while functional units and local people were trying to put out a forest fire in Nam Kim commune, one person died while fighting the fire.

At around 8:30 a.m., a fire broke out in the hamlets of Thung Huyen, Eo Vong, and Khe Khe in Nam Kim and Nam Dan communes. People shouted to each other and went into the forest together to put out the fire. One of them was Mr. Tran Dinh Ky (son of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoa, born in 1964 in Thung Huyen hamlet) who was one of the first to discover the fire and rushed to put it out.

However, when Ms. Hoa climbed to the fire, the fire was burning strongly, the wind blew continuously causing the fire to spread extremely quickly. At about 10 o'clock, the fire broke out strongly where Ms. Hoa was standing and engulfed her. Ms. Hoa tried to struggle to escape, but due to her weakness, combined with the steep terrain, she was completely burned by the fire and died on the spot.

It was not until 1 p.m., when the fire was basically under control at the site of Mrs. Hoa's fire, that the authorities took down Mrs. Hoa's body. Heartbreaking cries echoed throughout the poor countryside when witnessing a woman sacrificing herself for the sake of her children and her responsibility to protect the forest...

Mrs. Hoa's funeral was hastily organized by relatives and neighbors. In his house, Mr. Tran Dinh Niem - Mrs. Hoa's husband was so heartbroken that he could not speak, while his son, Tran Dinh Ky, kept banging his head on the coffin, screaming: "Mom, because of me you had to die, I told you not to go up and put out the fire... Mom..."

At 4 pm this afternoon, Ms. Hoa's three children, who were working as factory workers in Dong Nai, just arrived home to pay their respects to their mother. The children burst into tears right outside the gate when they saw their mother's coffin placed in the middle of the house.

Faced with such a great loss, the leaders of Nam Kim commune promptly came to share and encourage the family. Mr. Trinh Xuan Hung - Chairman of Nam Kim Commune People's Committee said: When the fire broke out, everyone tried to pull Ms. Hoa out of the fire but could not because the fire was too strong. Ms. Hoa sacrificed herself for the common good of the community to contribute to preserving the forest area in the commune, we are very grateful and will support the family in taking care of the funeral.
