In 2006, with the support of the project "Improving the lives of local communities and enhancing the capacity of local organizations" in Quy Hop district supported by Finland, the Tho ethnic folklore club in Dua village, Tho Hop commune was established, becoming a gathering place for people who love Tho ethnic folklore.

A performance by club members at the festival "Ethnic Culture and Sports Day" organized by the district

Currently, the club has 54 members, all of whom are Tho ethnic people. On average, they meet once a month, sing Tho folk songs to each other, perform Tho dances for each other... During these activities, the elderly, those who are knowledgeable about Tho folk songs and dances, become teachers who directly impart knowledge about folk culture to other members, especially the young. When it was first established, the club encountered many difficulties. Lack of experienced people, lack of musical instruments, lack of operating funds, but with the passion for restoring ancient cultural capital, national pride, the members of the club overcame these obstacles and actively participated in collecting and preserving their ethnic culture.

Up to now, the members of the club have collected, edited, and adapted dozens of folk songs and folk dances in the community such as: singing da oi, singing lullabies, singing to celebrate new rice, singing love songs...; creating dozens of traditional musical instruments: tang zither, monochord, four-stringed zither, two-stringed zither, foot percussion... In order for the Tho ethnic folk culture to spread, penetrate deeply, and have a strong attraction to everyone, the club has organized performances to serve the people during festivals, New Year's, even weddings, housewarmings... The club members are affectionately called "traveling theater troupes" by the people in the area. Whether on a brightly lit stage, or singing to celebrate weddings, performing on empty land, on warehouse yards in remote communes... the club members still perform their best without thinking about any remuneration. For them, performing is to preserve and keep. It was those performances that had a strong impact on the awareness of the Tho ethnic people. They felt proud of the smooth melodies of folk songs, the melodious sounds of the strings and flutes, the rhythm of their ethnic dances, and the sense of conservation that permeated each generation...

Assessing the role of the Club, Mr. Luu Van Thai, Director of the District Cultural Center, said: "With the contributions and practical activities of the Club members, it has contributed significantly to preserving the unique cultural heritage of the Tho people against the invasion of other cultures. At the same time, the Club is also the nucleus of the mass cultural and artistic movement. The Club has actively contributed to large and small competitions and performances from composing, selecting works, to choreographing, performing... The Club is the place to preserve the soul of Tho culture today and tomorrow...".
