Following the example of General Secretary Tran Phu - maintaining the revolutionary fighting spirit
(Baonghean) -Comrade Tran Phu was born on May 1, 1904, in An Tho village, An Lap commune, Tuy An district, Phu Yen province; his hometown was in Tung Anh commune, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province.
Although his life was short, he accomplished many great things whose significance will remain forever in the cause of the Party and the nation. His shining example has gathered noble values and qualities, leaving profound lessons for today's and future generations.
In 1925, he participated in the founding of the Phuc Viet Association (later changed to Hung Nam and then Tan Viet Revolutionary Party). In July 1926, comrade Tran Phu was sent to Guangzhou to meet with the leaders of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association to discuss the merger of the Youth Association with Tan Viet. Here, comrade Tran Phu met comrade Nguyen Ai Quoc and was trained in Marxism-Leninism and the experience of the Russian October Socialist Revolution. In early 1927, he was sent to study at the Oriental University in the Soviet Union.
In April 1930, comrade Tran Phu returned to the country, was added to the Party Central Committee and was assigned the responsibility of drafting the Party's Political Platform. This platform was approved by the first Central Conference held in Hong Kong (China) in October 1930. At this Conference, comrade Tran Phu was also elected General Secretary of the Indochinese Communist Party.
Based on the analysis of the political, economic and social characteristics in our country at that time, the political platform deeply analyzed the characteristics of the world situation and Indochina, the platform affirmed: "The essential condition for the victory of the revolution in Indochina is the need for a communist party with a correct political line, discipline, concentration, close contact with the masses, and experience in struggle to mature. The Party is the vanguard of the proletariat, taking Marxism and Leninism as its root, representing the main and long-term interests of the entire proletariat in Indochina and leading the proletariat of Indochina to fight to achieve the ultimate goal of the proletariat, which is communism".(1)
The political platform drafted by comrade Tran Phu clarified the purpose, tasks, steps, revolutionary motivation, the leadership role of the proletariat and the party of the proletariat, the importance of the strength of international solidarity for the Vietnamese revolution. These contents were basically consistent with the Brief Platform and Brief Strategy drafted by Nguyen Ai Quoc and approved at the Unification Conference in early 1930. The political platform contributed to forming the basic guidelines of the Vietnamese revolution, leading the revolution to overcome challenges, step by step towards glorious victory. This is a historical document, contributing to concretizing an issue about the revolutionary guidelines in our country. As President Ho Chi Minh later assessed: “In the 1930 Bourgeois Democratic Revolution Platform, the Party clearly stated the task of fighting imperialism and feudalism, achieving national independence, and land for the tillers. That platform was very consistent with the ardent aspirations of the vast majority of our people, who were farmers. Therefore, the Party was able to unite the great revolutionary forces around its class. As for the parties of other classes, they either went bankrupt or were isolated. Therefore, the leadership of our Party - the Party of the working class - was constantly consolidated and strengthened."(2)
After the first Conference, in his new position, General Secretary Tran Phu, together with the Central Executive Committee, concretized the revolutionary line stated in the Political Platform as well as in the Party's Brief Platform outlined by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc earlier, promptly proposed appropriate policies, and gradually moved the revolutionary movement forward.
While the revolutionary movement in our country was making new developments, on April 18, 1931, comrade Tran Phu was captured by the enemy. Unfortunately, the entire action plan he had proposed had not yet been implemented.
Before his death, he advised: "Before and after, I only hope that you will maintain your fighting spirit." This message has great encouragement value in the context of the enemy's efforts to suppress and destroy our Party.
The passing of General Secretary Tran Phu is a great loss to our Party and the revolutionary movement of our people, to the international communist and workers' movement. The Communist International Magazine, No. 5/1932, published an article in memory of Comrade Tran Phu, General Secretary of the Indochinese Communist Party, which concluded with the following passage: “Our General Secretary Tran Phu has sacrificed, but his name will live forever in the history of the revolutionary struggle of Indochina as well as in the hearts of the Indochinese workers of present and future generations. His revolutionary career, his loyalty and his indomitable attitude in the imperialist prison will forever be an example for communists in all countries and especially for Indochinese communists"…
"… Only our final victory over the class enemy can avenge the heroic death of the General Secretary and tens of thousands of other soldiers who fell like Tran Phu in the persistent struggle to protect the great cause of the world revolution"(3).
Speaking about comrade Tran Phu, President Ho Chi Minh once praised: "Comrade Tran Phu is an outstanding son of the Party and the people, who heroically sacrificed for the revolution". "As a very intelligent, enthusiastic and hard-working person, comrade Tran Phu has done many important things for the Party"(4).
82 years since General Secretary Tran Phu passed away, despite many ups and downs, our Party and people have remained steadfast and determined to properly implement the basic policies and guidelines stated in the first Platform, step by step "bringing our people from the status of slaves to become masters of the country and society".
“Keep your fighting spirit” - the advice of comrade Tran Phu 82 years ago still holds true, is a reminder, urging us to be steadfast in Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought, leading the revolutionary cause of our country and our people to continue to gain great victories in the new situation.
