The suffering of a salt-making countryside
(Baonghean.vn) -We visited the Van Nam salt fields in Dien Van commune (Dien Chau) on an early summer day. Salt farmers, mostly women and the elderly - strong enough to change jobs or unable to travel far to work - were drying their backs in the sun to create salty white salt grains.
Only when you go down to the salt fields can you see the hardships and suffering of the salt workers. Their work starts at 5am. A hard day of cleaning the pots, drying the sand, monitoring the water, the sun and the wind... the salt workers work hard until 3-4pm to make salt into grains.
Here are some photos PV recorded on Van Nam salt field:
Phan Thi Ngan and Phan Van Sang went to school one day and worked salt the other day. Their parents had to change jobs and work far away to earn more money for Ngan and her sister to continue going to school.

Ms. Phan Thi Nhan went to the salt fields.
The little boy under 2 years old had to follow his grandparents to the salt fields.
because there is no one to look after the house.
After a day of hard work, you get a salty grain of salt.
