Right from the early days of its establishment, despite being in extremely difficult circumstances: having to continuously evacuate many places; the school's facilities were lacking in all aspects, the school always adhered to its political mission, continuously opened training classes to foster cadres to meet the requirements of serving the resistance war and nation building.
To meet the requirements of training and fostering cadres for the new revolutionary period, especially since the 3rd National Party Congress (1960), the province established schools: Provincial Administrative School, Western Political School and Ly Tu Trong Youth Movement School.
The system of political schools was established together with the Provincial Party School to continue the career of training and fostering cadres for the entire provincial political system, meeting the requirements of the new revolutionary period, contributing to the successful implementation of the first 5-year socio-economic development plan (1961-1965). In the evacuation situation, communal houses, banyan trees, family churches, meeting halls, and even a row of casuarinas became "lecture halls" for a class. In some places, the school had to move after only a few months, and many branches had to move dozens of times. However, the opening of training classes was still maintained continuously and absolute safety was ensured. As a result, from 1965 to 1973, the school trained and fostered over 250 classes with nearly 20,000 key grassroots cadres.
After the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces merged into Nghe Tinh province. Schools to train and foster cadres for the province's political system were established to shoulder the responsibilities and tasks of the new period. From short-term training courses focusing on specialized subjects, they were transformed into long-term, systematic training courses following elementary and intermediate programs.
On June 3, 1993, the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee decided to merge Tran Phu Party School, State Management School, In-service Party School, Ly Tu Trong Youth Union Intermediate School into Nghe An Cadre Training and Development School. In 1997, the school was renamed Nghe An Political School. Promoting the tradition of previous cadre training and development schools, the school always adheres to the goals and objects, gradually expands the types, diversifies the forms, innovates the methods of cadre training and development, and exceeds the annual plan targets assigned by the province.
Currently, the school is directly implementing 3 intermediate training programs, 6 training programs, in collaboration with central units to train bachelors, senior political scientists, bachelors of journalism, bachelors of administration... The expansion and diversification of training and training types and forms have met the basic needs in terms of quantity, gradually standardizing the staff of all sectors and levels, especially at the grassroots level.
In carrying out training and fostering tasks, the school always focuses on improving quality; improving training and fostering management processes, ensuring seriousness and strictness, especially in the stage of testing and evaluating teaching and learning results; actively innovating teaching methods...
Thanks to that, the quality of training and development is constantly improved. Most of the cadres trained and developed at the school have progressed and matured, and have been promoted to higher positions.
In addition, the task of scientific research and summarizing practices has been promoted and achieved many remarkable results. During the period from 2006 to 2010, the school's staff and lecturers directly researched and coordinated research on 37 scientific topics, including 2 provincial-level topics, 10 school-level topics, 25 faculty-level topics; compiled 2 training textbooks, 6 training programs and materials, published 3 volumes of scientific proceedings, and issued 14 internal research journals to exchange theory and practice.
The staff and lecturers are supplemented in number, rejuvenated and are cared for in training and fostering to improve their professional qualifications. Among the 76 staff and lecturers of the school, there are 31 masters (accounting for 60%), 40 specialized university graduates, 17 main lecturers and senior experts. The facilities are invested in synchronous and modern construction: a system of high-rise buildings with a capacity of 400 - 500 boarding students, a system of classrooms serving 1,000 people with modern teaching facilities.
Over 65 years of construction and development, the school has been honored to receive many noble titles from the Party and the State: First-class Labor Medal in 2006; Third-class Independence Medal in 2011 along with many Certificates of Merit, Certificates of Merit, Emulation Flags from all levels and sectors...
Proud of its 65-year tradition, in the coming time, the school's staff will continue to innovate teaching methods, combine theory with practice, train qualified staff, both red and professional, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress, building a rich and civilized homeland.
