(Baonghean) -Do Son in late autumn, the sky seems clearer, the pine forest is cool green and the sound of the waves is murmuring. At the foot of Nghinh Phong hill is the K15 Ship Wharf - the departure place of unnumbered ships carrying goods and weapons to support the Southern battlefield during the years of resistance against the US, has just been recognized as a national historical relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

More than half a century ago, in 1959, our Army established two strategic transportation routes to support people and soldiers in the South, one overland across the Truong Son mountain range and one by sea across the East Sea.

In October 1961, the Ministry of National Defense established Group 759, a water transport group tasked with transporting supplies to the South by sea. From here, the officers and soldiers of Group 759, with their glorious feats and extraordinary deeds, created the legendary road named after Uncle Ho, a unique miracle in the history of the nation.

Mr. To Hai Nam - Soldier serving at the K15 Pier recalls the heroic years.

Also from here appeared ships without numbers, appearing and disappearing like myths. The shipping log at the important time also recorded: “K15 (located at the tip of the peninsula)Do Son) witnessed the first wooden ship carrying 30 tons of weapons leaving the port to Ca Mau. On October 16, 1962, the ship successfully docked at Vam Lung (Ca Mau). Next, fleet number 2, then number 3 and hundreds of ships departed from this location, carrying countless goods and weapons to support the South, defeat the enemy, and contribute to the victory of April 30, 1975, completely liberating the South and unifying the country."

Coming to Do Son this time, we were lucky to meet Mr. To Hai Nam, former colonel, Editor-in-Chief of the Navy Newspaper, currently Deputy Director of Hon Dau Resort. The soldier who served on unnumbered ships from 1972-1975 recounted: “That day, I wrote a volunteer application in blood to go on duty and was assigned to transport goods onto the ship.

At that time, we only knew that the goods were being loaded onto the ship, but we didn’t know what they were, where they were being transported, or for what purpose. Everything was secret, absolutely secret. The ship received the goods at midnight, in a very short period of time. At that time, the soldiers on the ship had to work twice or three times harder than usual... The enemy bombarded, the storms, the rougher the sea, the bigger the waves, the more active the ships were to hide from the enemy. We determined that we were part of the suicide squad, so we didn’t hesitate to face any danger. Only later did I know that I was on duty on the heroic unnumbered ships, and at that time I felt very proud and honored.”

Nowadays, in the peninsulaDo Son, in the Green Valley at the foot of Nghinh Phong Hill, the monument commemorating the historical relic of the Ho Chi Minh Trail on the sea stands majestically and solemnly among the clouds and sky. This project was built and completed on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Vietnam.Hai Phong.Amidst the green of the hillsDo Son, in the murmur of the waves, the K15 relic is a heroic symbol praising the bravery and readiness to fight and sacrifice for the Fatherland of the officers and soldiers on the unnumbered ships of the past. Currently, K15 has concrete pillars that remain forever like the notes of a song that goes with the years, recording brilliant feats, marking the heroic history of our army. And on October 23 this year, this is one of the 8 live television stations to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh trail at sea.
