(Baonghean.vn) - To meet consumer demand during Tet, at this time, livestock farmers in Anh Son district have proactively cared for, protected and increased their broiler flocks totimely supply of products to the market.

Nguyen Thi Quynh's family farm in Ke May village, Cam Son commune is one of the largest broiler farms in Anh Son district. Taking advantage of the 7-hectare hilly land, her family raises 4,000 broiler chickens each year. The closed-cell system was built by her family according to standards, ensuring ventilation, and the breeding area is regularly cleaned and disinfected.

To prepare for this year's Tet holiday, in addition to restocking her flock, Ms. Quynh also increased her stock by 1,500 breeding chickens. Ms. Quynh shared: At the end of the year and during the Lunar New Year, people's consumption demand increases, so increasing the flock of chickens to supply the year-end market is also an effective way to increase family income. During Tet every year, after only about a week, her family sold out their flock of over 2,000 chickens, earning nearly 150 million VND in profit.

Also following the trend of increasing the flock during Tet, Mr. Nguyen Huu Dai in village 4, Tuong Son commune has increased the number of chickens by 1,000, bringing the total flock to 2,100, mainly domestic chickens, of which 1,000 are big enough to sell, and 1,100 are being raised to serve the Tet market.

Mr. Dai said: Since September, the family has been preparing to consolidate the quantity to supply for Tet. Normally, chickens can be sold after 3 - 3.5 months of raising. If well cared for, they can reach a weight of more than 2kg/chicken, the selling price is about 80,000 VND/kg, the farmer will make a profit; during peak times such as holidays and Tet, the price increases, from 100,000 - 120,000 VND/kg. This Tet season, my family is estimated to earn from 100 to 150 million VND.

To have a healthy and beautiful flock of chickens for Tet, Mr. Dai's family has fully vaccinated the chickens. Each batch is raised for 110 days and the amount of industrial feed is reduced by 30% to supplement other foods such as corn, vegetables, and rice after the chickens are 35 days old to have firm and delicious meat.

During this year's Tet holiday, Anh Son district has about 500,000 chickens sold to the market, with the main breeds being native chickens, ant chickens, and native chickens... Of which, most are concentrated in 21 large-scale farms, the rest are household farms with a scale of 500 chickens. In particular, during this year's Tet holiday, farmers in the district focus on free-range chickens, with a herd growth rate of 15 to 20%, mainly concentrated in the communes of Cam Son, Tuong Son, Khai Son, Duc Son...

To improve the quality of commercial chickens to meet the consumer market, Anh Son district has directed functional sectors and localities to focus on propaganda and guidance for farms and households to strengthen the implementation of biosafety farming processes, instructing farmers to comply with the correct procedures in caring for, raising, and improving the quality of broiler chickens, combining disease prevention and environmental sanitation to meet market requirements, especially ensuring a clean food source for this Lunar New Year.
