With the advantage of large hilly forest land, natural food sources, suitable for grazing, Mr. Dan's family in Chao village, Nghia Lam commune invested in raising hybrid wild boars. Before opening a hybrid wild boar farm, Mr. Dan's family used to raise industrial pigs but the efficiency was not high.
In 2014, after researching through books and the internet, and visiting some farms inside and outside the province, he saw that many people were raising wild boars effectively, so he decided to build a farm on a hilly area of nearly 1 hectare. He divided some small pens with an area of 25 - 30 m2/pen for breeding sows and piglets. The remaining area is fenced into natural gardens with solid foundations. The outdoor gardens all have a space of 100 - 200 m2for the pigs to exercise and have a shed to avoid the rain. Initially, he raised 7 sows and 2 boars, and now his farm has 45 sows and 5 boars.

Currently, an average wild boar sow gives birth to 2 litters a year, each litter producing 6-9 piglets. Each year, Mr. Dan's family sells about 150 pigs, selling them for 120,000 VND/kg, the peak time is during Tet when a 30 kg wild boar is sold for 140,000 VND/kg. After deducting expenses, he earns a net profit of more than 200 million VND/year. The product's consumption market is not only in the province but also extends to neighboring areas such as Tho Xuan and Nhu Xuan districts (Thanh Hoa). Mr. Dan said: To successfully raise wild boars, it is important to apply science and technology combined with experience, and the grazing area must be spacious and airy.

Mr. Dan added: “To raise hybrid wild boars, you need to fully understand the breed, barn construction techniques, breeding, processes, and their characteristics to achieve the best results. Thanks to the natural food source, hybrid wild boar meat is of good quality and safe.
Mr. Le Trung Kien - Vice Chairman of Nghia Lam Commune People's Committee said: "Mr. Dan's hybrid wild boar farming model is the first large-scale wild boar farming model in Nghia Dan district, bringing high economic efficiency. In the coming time, we will let farmers visit and learn about this farming model."
