In the shrimp farming area of Quynh Thanh commune (Quynh Luu), during the recent hot days, shrimp farmers here have been actively checking the health of shrimp to have timely measures to prevent heat.
Mr. Le Van Tinh in hamlet 12, Quynh Thanh commune has nearly 1 hectare of shrimp farming area and said: When raising shrimp in the hot season, we have to prevent heat and provide enough water into the pond for shrimp to grow, maintaining the water level in the pond at ≥ 1.4m. On hot sunny days, we also have to continuously fan the water to help stir the water, avoiding stratification in the pond.
In addition, Mr. Tinh also disinfects the pond with effervescent tablets to increase the shrimp's resistance. Thanks to the application of technology in the farming process, the shrimp in his family's pond are currently growing well. After 40 days, the shrimp reached a weight of 90 shrimp/kg; it is expected that his family will harvest in nearly a month.

In the shrimp farming area of Hoang Mai town, thanks to the success of the first crop, people are motivated to continue investing and raising shrimp in the second crop. In the ponds, people are "stretching" under the sun to check, care for and monitor the growth of shrimp.
Mr. Vu Van Duc, the owner of a shrimp farming household in Quynh Xuan ward (Hoang Mai town) said: His family has 13 hectares of shrimp pond area, of which nearly half is in Quynh Luong commune (Quynh Luu). Entering the second crop, his family is determined to cover the entire area even though the second crop is often more difficult to raise than the first crop due to hot weather.
To protect the shrimp in the hot sun, he invested nearly 200 million VND in a pond to build a net house to protect the shrimp from the heat. Currently, his family has 6 ponds in net houses and 8 ponds with shading nets. Thanks to that, in the hot environmental temperature, shrimp in ponds over 45 days old are growing well, waiting for harvest.

Raising shrimp in a greenhouse with a net cover always helps the water source in the pond to be stable at 30 - 31 degrees Celsius, enough conditions for shrimp to grow. In addition, it is necessary to use quality food and drugs, chemicals, biological products in the list of permitted circulation in aquaculture to treat the environment, prevent and treat diseases, and manage the health of farmed shrimp.
Quynh Luu and Hoang Mai town have nearly 1,000 hectares of shrimp farming ponds. Entering the second shrimp farming season, the total shrimp farming area is about 400 hectares, concentrated in the areas of Quynh Lien, Quynh Xuan (Hoang Mai town) and Quynh Thanh, Quynh Bang (Quynh Luu).
In order to limit the risk and damage of shrimp farming during the hot season, from the beginning of the season, localities have promoted people to focus on preventing and protecting shrimp during the hot season. If the heat-resistant conditions cannot be ensured, the farming area should be limited.

Mr. Hoang Ngoc Thuy - Head of the Economic - Infrastructure Department, Hoang Mai town said: Shrimp farming households in the area are focusing on taking care of shrimp in the second crop. In order to prevent heat for shrimp growth, the department recommends that households need to supply enough water to the pond to cool and increase the resistance of shrimp by adding minerals, intestinal microorganisms, beta glucan, vitamins...,
In addition, it is necessary to invest in a covering system to reduce the direct impact from high outdoor temperatures, regulate water temperature appropriately, limit temperature stratification in the pond, limit the growth and development of algae; at the same time, increase aeration in the pond so that oxygen is provided sufficiently at all water levels.
