Despite the sunny weather, Mrs. Ho Thi Them in Quynh Luong commune also rushed to the fields to deal with the aftermath and harvest vegetables. Because she had proactively covered the fields with tarps before the storm hit, her family’s more than 2 acres of green onions were protected from flooding and being crushed by the rain.
“When the water recedes, the family mobilizes more workers to quickly harvest green onions to sell to traders. If the roots are soaked in water for too long in the soil when it is sunny, the leaves will turn yellow and be damaged,” said Ms. Them.
Ms. Pham Thi Huong in Quynh Minh commune added that storm No. 10 did not cause much damage, after one night the water receded so her family is focusing on harvesting; currently the flowers are being purchased at 18,000 VND/kg, so they have to take advantage of harvesting to sell to traders.

This summer-autumn crop, people in the coastal communes of Quynh Nghia, Quynh Minh, Quynh Luong, and Quynh Bang account for about 70% of the scallions, with a total cultivated area of 700 hectares. Scallions can withstand drought well in the summer, but are very susceptible to yellow leaves and damage when flooded. Therefore, when the sun comes up, people quickly go to the fields to harvest.
For areas of crushed and damaged mustard greens and lettuce, people also actively repair them, plowing the land to replant; for hardy crops such as squash, bitter melon, climbing beans, tomatoes, etc., they replant the trellis, tie vines, and mound the base of the plants to help them recover and grow in order to harvest in the shortest time.

Mr. Dau Duc Nam - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district said: After the storm, the district organized inspection teams, counted the damage, and directed communes and towns to stay in the fields, encouraged people to actively clean up the fields, and restore production.
The vegetable growing areas of Nam Anh, Nam Xuan, and Xuan Hoa communes are the communes with the largest vegetable growing areas in Nam Dan district, earning billions of dong in revenue each year from green vegetable products. After storm No. 10, many farmers' vegetable fields collapsed.
When the water receded, Mrs. Ho Thi Sen in Hamlet 3, Nam Anh Commune took the opportunity to go to the fields to harvest the morning glory flowers. According to the plan, the harvest season is still nearly 2 months away, but due to heavy rain, 60% of the area is at risk of rotting. What Mrs. Sen worries about is that the amount of water accumulated in the soil is still high, and the hot weather makes the crops easily wilt and lose vitality.
