Nghe An farmers grow Tet grapefruit engraved with the words 'wealth' and 'fortune', selling for half a million VND/fruit

The family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong in Trung Tam hamlet, Nghia Hieu commune is the first household to engrave letters on grapefruit in Nghia Dan. Because it is just a trial, they only made 200 fruits to sell for Tet. Up to this point, although the average price of each fruit is 500,000 VND, customers have bought almost all of them, with only a few left on the tree.

"To make grapefruits with the words "luck" and "wealth" to sell during Tet like this, I had to order molds all the way from the South, choose the most beautiful grapefruits and put them in the molds when they were just the size of oranges; and have to water, care for, and monitor them more closely every day than when growing regular grapefruits," Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong shared.

As a farmer who specializes in growing oranges and failed with orange trees, now switching to growing grapefruit has given higher efficiency.This year, with about 600 grapefruit trees, of which 150 trees produce grapefruit twice a year and 300 trees produce fruit, Ms. Huong harvested more than 20 tons of grapefruit, not to mention the Tet crop, her family also harvested about 10 tons more.

Ms. Huong's unique way of doing things has increased the value of her products and has been well received by consumers.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha Giang - Vice President of the Farmers' Association of Nghia Hieu Commune said,Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong has applied science and technology to improve her products, keeping up with the market and making Huong Quang grapefruit brand a unique brand of Tet fruit specialty of her district.

The model of Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong's family was highly appreciated by the Farmers' Association of Nghia Dan district. Many farmers in the district came to learn to get rich on their own land.
