In recent years, Nghia Thinh commune has been considered one of the localities with the best winter-spring crop in Nghia Dan district. In 2018, Nghia Thinh planted over 60 hectares of biomass corn, mainly PSC102 corn variety. With less rain and storms, favorable for production, the yield of this crop reached 2.3 - 2.5 tons/sao. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ly's family in hamlet 3 has more than 3 sao of alluvial land, after nearly 3 months of growing biomass corn, sold it to businesses for 6.5 million VND.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly - Hamlet 3, Nghia Thinh Commune said: "Under the direction of the Commune Agriculture Board, this year the weather is favorable, so the winter-spring corn crop here is a good harvest, the selling price is 840 thousand/ton, 4 times higher than the previous crop, farmers earn over 1.2 million VND per sao. After the harvest, we immediately start producing the next corn crop."

With the policy of intensive farming, this is the 5th year that Nghia Thinh commune people have grown 3 corn crops per year. To consume the products, Nghia Thinh commune authorities have also signed a contract to supply raw corn to local dairy farming enterprises for purchase. 3-4 crops can be grown per year, each hectare brings in hundreds of millions of dong in income. This winter-spring corn crop, 100% of corn-growing households have registered to sell corn as raw material. Mr. Vo Van Nien - Nghia Thinh commune's agricultural committee said: "Nghia Thinh has a tradition of growing corn, but this is the 5th year the commune has had a good winter-spring corn crop, with a yield of 45-50 tons/ha".

In Nghia Lam commune, at this time, farmers are also urgently harvesting winter-spring corn. With more than 5 sao of corn, this year is the first year that Mr. Truong Van Tho's family in hamlet 14 has planted biomass corn with hybrid corn varieties PSC102, NK4300... he excitedly shared: "Planting biomass corn has many advantages such as shortening the time, each crop is only about 80 days, people do not have to worry too much about the weather, diseases affecting the yield and quality of corn kernels, it also increases the land use coefficient and increases income for people".

Nghia Lam is also one of the localities that has been successful in the winter corn crop, with more than 70 hectares. To increase economic efficiency per unit area and increase income for people, Mr. Le Trung Kien - Vice Chairman of Nghia Lam Commune People's Committee said: "With the current purchase price, each hectare of corn can bring in an income of over 70 million VND/crop. After deducting the cost of materials and labor, farmers still earn a profit of about 50 - 60 million VND. For farmers, this is a good sign and a new hope for farmers to get rich legitimately on their land. This is also an important premise for people to continue agricultural production in the following crops."
