For the past 5 years, Mr. Tran Xuan Dinh, 60 years old, a parishioner in hamlet 14A Nghi Kieu, has built a farm and bought goats to raise. He shared: goats are easy to raise, grow quickly, take advantage of natural food sources, have few diseases, and generate quick income. A female goat produces 4 kid goats/year, after deducting expenses, the net profit is 10 million VND, far exceeding the income from raising other animals.
To develop goat farming, it is necessary to invest in building a barn with a density of 1m2/1 goat, with a floor height of 0.7m, cool in the summer and warm in the winter; goats' food is mainly leaves of various kinds, and can also be supplemented with corn, rice, rice bran, etc. Currently, Mr. Dinh's total herd of goats is 12, and by the end of this year it will increase to over 20. Commercial goats weigh 20 - 30kg, and on average, the family earns over 40 million VND per year from goat farming.
