A series of car models are in short supply such as Toyota Vios, Mazda3, Mercedes C250..., forcing customers to wait for a month. There is a car model that requires buyers to spend more than 2 billion VND and wait half a year for their turn.

Even if you have money, you have to wait.

Figures from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) show that in the first three months of this year, the Vietnamese market consumed 48,707 cars of all kinds, up 62% over the same period in 2014. Of these, the number of passenger cars reached 31,994, up 60% over the same period and commercial vehicles reached 16,713, up 67% over the same period last year.

Many car models have strong sales growth, contributing to the impressive growth of most auto companies.

The strongest growth is the Mazda brand with 113%, reaching sales of 1,441 units, surpassing Kia to take second place in passenger cars in VAMA. A series of Mazda models are leading in sales in the same segment such as Mazda3 with nearly 600 units, Mazda CX-5 with more than 300 units, Mazda 6 with more than 170 units, BT-50 with more than 260 units,...

Kia brand had sales of 1,310 units, up 54% over the same period, thanks to a series of key models with high sales such as K3 with more than 300 units, Morning reaching nearly 450 units, Rio nearly 200 units, Sorento and Carens more than 100 units,...

Many car models have strong sales growth, contributing to the impressive growth of most auto companies.

For Toyota Vietnam, the 2014 Vios, Fortuner and Innova models still have high appeal in the market with sales of nearly 1,200, nearly 900 and nearly 800 units respectively.

Ford Vietnam also achieved a growth rate of 59%, the highest ever, thanks to the strong growth of commercial vehicle models such as Ranger 1,200 units, Transit 1,000 units, and EcoSport 900 units.

In the luxury car segment, the Mercedes-Benz and Lexus brands have seen very strong growth: 820 Mercedes cars were sold in the first quarter of 2015, up 57% compared to the same period last year. Lexus had a growth rate of 258% compared to the same period, reaching 279 cars sold, promising to have sales for the whole year exceeding 1,000 cars and competing with BMW for the second position in luxury car sales in the market.

A series of car models are in short supply such as Toyota Vios, Mazda3, Mercedes C 250,... causing buyers to wait at least 1 month. Even for a car model like Mercedes C 250, customers said they signed a contract with the dealer since January 2015 but it was not until July that the car was available for delivery. Even for the newly launched Camry model, due to the large number of contracts, buyers had to wait until June 2015 to receive the car.

New model to please customers

Most recently, Truong Hai Auto Company has officially introduced the high-end MPV Kia Sedona 2015, in the 7-seat family car segment, competing with Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey.

At the same time, GM Vietnam also launched a new version of the Chevrolet Orlando family car, with many new amenities.

These two models will provide more choices for customers in the family MPV segment.

In addition, on April 21, Toyota Vietnam also launched the 2015 Camry model with a completely new exterior design, with two engine versions: 2.5L and one 2.0L version, using a 6-speed automatic transmission.

This is a car in the mid-range sedan segment, along with competitors such as Mazda6, Hyundai Sonata, Honda Arrcord,... Recently, Mazda 6 and Hyundai Sonata have been renewed and upgraded with many modern features, helping sales increase sharply. Therefore, the "upgrade" of Camry 2015 will make this segment more exciting and fiercely competitive.

Currently, car consumption is increasing strongly, not only in the two big cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, but also in all localities across the country. To meet the increasing demand, businesses have expanded their dealer networks. Hyundai Thanh Cong announced that in April it opened two dealers in the Central and Central Highlands regions, Mazda opened a dealer in Hai Duong, and Kia added a dealer in Hanoi,... to facilitate customers in accessing products and after-sales services.
