“Carrying Mother Back to Heaven” is a new composition by Pham Phuong Thao herself, adapted from the poem “Carrying Mother to Play” by poet Khanh Duong. It can be said that from the poem to the song and MV, people can deeply feel the boundlessness and fullness of sacred maternal love, when tears not only “flow down” but also “flow up”.
Sharing at the MV launch, Meritorious Artist Pham Phuong Thao confided: Everyone has a lot of love for their parents, but Pham Phuong Thao rarely says she loves her parents but shows it through actions and specific care.
With new songs, she often sings them to her mother, and with this new song, Pham Phuong Thao also sang it to her mother for the first time. She said that the first time, her mother said it was good but "a bit strange", ghostly, while her mother liked it sweet. "After recording, Thao played it for her mother to listen to, with music, it was easier for her to feel, her mother praised it as good, so Thao was very confident" - she said.
Responding to the question of whether it is difficult to compose another author's poetry, Pham Phuong Thao shared: Writing your own music or lyrics or someone else's, whether it is difficult or easy depends on your mood and emotions. Sometimes you can't write for a month, but sometimes you come across a poetic idea and write it quickly and well.
“The encounter between two souls, Pham Phuong Thao and the author, is a good fate, I cherish and respect it very much. The author of the poem is a very sincere and kind brother of mine. I often read his poems, I like his poetic ideas. There are things that don’t need to be said much, sometimes when one person says it, the other can understand it” - she said.
The singer from Nghe An also confided: “I look strong on the outside but sometimes I am very weak. I have experienced two unexpected losses, separating from my two great teachers, Mr. Quy Duong and Mr. An Thuyen. I did not anticipate the painful separation from my loved ones, so I was very scared. I was often haunted by the thought that my parents would one day leave me. At that time, I was determined not to allow myself to be weak, not to worry or be afraid, but to think about how to live so that my parents would be happy, secure and not have any regrets while they were still alive.”
MV "Carrying mother back to heaven" directed by Lam Ha, DOP Tuan Trinh andmusicDrawing a dream of carrying mother back to heaven, full of light and peace. From Pham Phuong Thao's own idea that it is necessary to use the language of dance to convey the spirit of the work, with the performance of two dancers Quang Huy and Tuyet Anh, director Lam Ha has completed a dream of "Carrying mother back to heaven", a farewell that is painful, but gentle and optimistic.
For Pham Phuong Thao personally, “Carrying Mother Back to Heaven” continues to be her impressive composition after a series of compositions that have left their mark and been highly appreciated by experts and audiences before, such as: Gai Nghe, Chang vinh quy, Dat me ngay ve, Chut tinh em gui, Mo duyen, Mong manh em… Currently, Pham Phuong Thao is one of the few singers pursuing a career in composing lyrical folk music. In particular, Pham Phuong Thao always expands her composition range to other music genres, not just limited to folk music. Some of her compositions for young music are very popular, such as “Mong manh em”…
