During her work, she witnessed that in the villages, whenever someone was sick, they invited a shaman to perform a healing ritual and many sick people died because they thought the illness was caused by a forest ghost. She decided to "attack" the forest ghost and eliminate superstition. When someone was sick, she did not mind the long distance or the dark night to go to their house to examine, treat them, and then spread the word. Changing people's awareness should start from the simplest things like drinking boiled water, washing hands before eating, sleeping under a mosquito net, vaccinating children, spreading family planning measures, personal hygiene, preventing common diseases, and giving birth... With Ms. Hoa's tireless efforts and concrete actions in treating and saving people, the concepts and bad customs of the people here have completely changed. Every time they are sick, the ethnic minorities in the commune all go to medical facilities and hospitals.
Doctor Hoa recounted a memory, one night 26 years ago, the patient's family in Cap Chang village, Yen Tinh commune rushed to the station to find her. She crossed mountains and forests to reach the patient's house. When she arrived, the patient was writhing in pain, struggling on the bed, while the shaman was performing magic in the middle of the house. Diagnosing the patient with poisoning from a forest plant, she convinced the family, then performed a gastric lavage and the patient overcame the critical condition. From such times of saving patients from the "grim reaper's scythe" at such a close call, the villagers believed in her, gradually eliminating backward customs.
Exemplary in organizing medical examination and treatment for the poor, Dr. Hoa advised the Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee of the commune, commune-level departments and branches, health department, health center to issue documents related to people's health care. Established drug rehabilitation committee, food safety and hygiene inspection team, environmental sanitation, periodic health check-ups for ethnic boarding students, primary school students, and preschool students. Coordinated with departments and branches to integrate medical work to villages and families to take care of people's health.
Thanks to the dedication of her and the center's staff, in 2013, Thach Giam Commune Health Station examined and treated more than 6,012 people in the area. Outpatient treatment for 3,407 people. Examination for 887 children. To prevent and control malaria, 2,685 mosquito nets were treated during the year. Under the leadership and management of Dr. Hoa, the collective of Thach Giam Commune Health Station is one of the units of Tuong Duong District Health Center that always excellently completes the assigned tasks, achieving national standard health station phase 1 in 2011-2012 and striving to achieve national standard health station phase 2 in 2013".
