8X female cadre quit her job at the commune to grow roses on 6 hectares

Having worked in the locality and held the position of Vice President of the Women's Union of Ngoc Chien Commune, Muong La District (Son La Province), she was trusted by many people and highly appreciated for her working capacity. However, because the job did not match her passion, Ms. Dem quit her job to grow roses and develop the family economy.

Talking about her relationship with roses, Ms. Dem said: I have had a hobby of growing flowers since I was young, but due to lack of conditions, I only planted a few trees in the garden to admire. During my time working in the commune, I participated in production development training courses, especially during field trips to rose farms in the localities, from which I came up with the idea of ​​growing roses. Moreover, I have relatives in Me Linh (Hanoi), where many roses are grown, so I can contact them to get seeds and find outlets.

Ms. Dem's rose garden not only increases her family's income but also contributes to creating jobs for local people.

Realizing that the climate in Ngoc Chien is cool all year round, with a lot of fog in the early morning, this is a climate very suitable for the growth of roses. She discussed with her family about renting rice fields from local people and contacted relatives in Me Linh to get rose seeds.

At first, she had no experience and planted a small amount, learning as she went. The roses planted here grew well, producing large, beautiful flowers. Although the first harvest did not bring much profit, the output was favorable because a relative who grew flowers in the lowlands contacted her to sell.

Due to the climate, roses grown in Ngoc Chien have very large flowers, thick branches, and long-lasting fresh leaves. Ms. Dem sells roses mainly to big cities such as Hanoi, Bac Giang, etc. Seeing that this is the right direction, she decided to propagate and expand the flower growing area to 6 hectares.

Ms. Dem said that in the past, her family also grew vegetables and squash, but the prices were unstable, the output was not stable, and the income was not as good as growing roses. The price of flowers depends on the time, during the holidays, flowers sell very well, and on normal days, customers buy less.

To have beautiful flowers, flower care is very elaborate, must regularly fertilize, spray pesticides, prune branches and leaves, and pinch buds daily for the tree, so that the tree can concentrate nutrients to nourish the flowers. Every day, Ms. Dep hires dozens of workers to take care of the flowers, the daily salary is more than 100,000 VND/person. Contributing to creating jobs and income for local people.
