Female director of petroleum company arrested

On the evening of October 21, the Investigation Police Agency of Dong Nai Province announced that it had prosecuted and executed an order to temporarily detain Ms. Mai Thi Dan (born in 1966), Director of Ha Loc Company Limited, headquartered at 1219 30/4 Street, Vung Tau City to investigate the act ofsmuggle,as prescribed in Article 188, Penal Code.

Accordingly, Ms. Dan was temporarily detained for 4 months, the above decisions were approved by the People's Procuracy of Dong Nai province.

In addition to Ms. Dan, a number of other subjects related to gasoline activities at Ha Loc Company Limited were also detained by the police for investigation and verification, including Ms. Dan's husband and the company's accountant.

Earlier, on the same morning, dozens of police officers from Dong Nai Province Police in coordination with Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province Police and forces from several professional departments (Ministry of Public Security) conducted an emergency search of the headquarters of Ha Loc Company Limited.

Here, through searching the headquarters and residence of Ms. Dan, the investigation agency seized many related documents and papers and sealed many gasoline tanks. By noon of the same day, Ms. Dan and two other related people were also taken away from the scene by official vehicles.

The police raid on Ha Loc Company Ltd. surprised many people, because in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, this company is known as the largest petroleum trading enterprise, owning dozens of seaports and petroleum trading stores. In addition, this company is quite famous for importing and distributing petroleum throughout the southern provinces and cities.

The police arrested Ms. Dan and searched the headquarters of Ha Loc Company Limited to investigate smuggling related to a particularly large-scale fake gasoline production and smuggling ring in Project 920G led by Dong Nai Provincial Police, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security, which was dismantled in early 2021.

Regarding the 920G project, up to now, the Investigation Police Agency of Dong Nai Province has prosecuted more than 70 defendants for the crimes of: Smuggling, Manufacturing and trading counterfeit goods, Receiving bribes...

Initial investigation determined that the subjects in the fake gasoline production and smuggling ring had brought to the market more than 200 million liters of fake and smuggled gasoline, illegally profiting thousands of billions of dong.

This particularly large-scale smuggling and fake gasoline production ring has been put on the market, causing harm to consumers.
