Female lecturer mysteriously disappeared while studying abroad in Russia

Colonel Le Anh Tuan, Chief of Thu Duc District Police (HCMC), confirmed that he is verifying information about a female lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, who is said to have returned from studying in Russia but cannot be contacted.

According to information from the family of female lecturer Ho Thi Duyen Thuy (30 years old, hometown Dong Nai), in 2011, Thuy was a lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education (Vo Van Ngan Street, Linh Chieu Ward, Thu Duc District).

After teaching at school, Thuy was sent by the school to study for a doctorate at Kazan State University (Russian Federation) for a period of 3 years. During her years studying for a doctorate in a foreign country, Thuy contacted her family by phone every week and discussed with the school.

Ms. Thuy is said to have mysteriously disappeared for many months after completing her studies in Russia.

In December 2014, Thuy completed her doctoral training program, so the Office of Overseas Student Affairs of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia notified the school. Thuy had cut off contact with her instructor as well as the Office of Overseas Student Affairs in Russia.

In April 2015, the family and school lost contact with Thuy. When calling Thuy's phone number, they only heard a foreign voice.

After months of waiting without results, Thuy's family went to Thu Duc District Police to report. Representatives of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education also sent a document to the Immigration Department - Ministry of Public Security, the Department of Foreign Training to clarify.

Through the investigation process between the units, it was found that Ms. Thuy left Russia for Vietnam on the night of December 21, 2014. On the Vietnamese side, it was recorded that Ms. Thuy entered the country through Tan Son Nhat airport on December 22, 2014.

From December 2014 to present, the authorities have not recorded Ms. Thuy leaving Vietnam through official channels.

According to Thuy's family, from December 2014 to April 2015, when Thuy returned to Vietnam, the family was still able to contact Thuy through the phone number that Thuy used in Russia.

Professional units are clarifying suspicions related to the "disappearance" of this lecturer.
