MissTeacher Nguyen Minh Hong:Every November is an occasion for the whole society to honor the mission and role of teachers. Looking back on my journey of more than 28 years standing on the podium, I am more confident in my choice, because with the teaching profession, I have the opportunity to bond with the young generation, to promote my abilities, strengths and improve myself every day.
In that choice, Literature is the most suitable subject, because I have been attached to this subject since I was a student at Phan Boi Chau High School. Encouraged and nurtured by teachers, in turn, I hope to be able to pass on the love of Literature to generations of students.

PV:I have interviewed many students who are good at Literature, some of whom have won first prizes and are valedictorians in provincial and national competitions for excellent students. What I am a little concerned about is that, although they are good students, they do not read many books. In other words, the way students receive and approach literature today is different from how we did in the past. MissTeacher Nguyen Minh Hong:In fact, in the digital age, audio-visual media and forms of entertainment are very developed, the pressure to study and take exams is also quite large. Surely that will make Gen Z and Gen Alpha have a different approach to books and reading than we did in the past. Among them, there are many students, even good students, who read less books, or read books in a pragmatic way, only for a short-term purpose at a certain time. The way to receive and approach literature is therefore also different from before.
However, I believe that there are still many young people who love books, understand the value of books, and want to spread their passion for books to everyone. In fact, I see that young people today read and spread their passion in different ways, dynamically, positively and quite effectively. For example, in the form of club activities, book reviews, promoting and sharing good books, organizing writing competitions, taking advantage of digital technology to connect book-loving communities everywhere...

That is a positive signal for us to hope that, no matter what era, books will always hold an irreplaceable position. And along with books, the love of literature will certainly be preserved and developed.
For teachers, the current context of educational innovation poses many new requirements, including the core requirement of shifting from teachingants awaketo developmentpower force and product matter.This requirement is not easy for all subjects, especially Literature, a subject with many specific factors.
In my opinion, this is a matter of method, because no matter what era, knowledge, capacity and character are always the goals we aim for. Focusing on developing capacity, guiding students on how to approach, acquire knowledge and self-improve character will be the most effective way of education. By doing so, we will help students to be independent and proactive in learning, nurturing the flame of passion for literature that never goes out.

MissTeacher Nguyen Minh Hong:Being a homeroom teacher is a great experience in the teaching profession, because there will be more opportunities to bond with students. The homeroom teacher takes on the role of a subject teacher, a manager, a guide, and a leader of a class throughout the high school journey, like a captain. Therefore, this is an opportunity, a joy, and at the same time a responsibility, associated with no small amount of pressure. To complete that task, bonding students is still the most important secret.

To unite students, the key thing to do is to build a collective that is united, autonomous, and unified for a common goal. There, students will realize that they are an indispensable part of the class, becoming active subjects in building the collective and connecting with each other. On their journey in high school, the homeroom teacher will be the guide, also the companion, supporting and adjusting, and directing when necessary.

PV: We have long said “first is the devil, second is the spirit, third is the student”. Are you afraid that your class has problem students? And as a homeroom teacher, what do you consider the most important thing?
Teacher Nguyen Minh Hong:Having challenging students is something that can happen in any classroom. What matters is how we support and accompany them as they enter adulthood.
I have gone through that difficult period with some of my students. The first thing to do is to find out the cause, the root of those problems.floating chaos,against opposite towith an attitude of empathy, understanding, sharing and non-judgment. Each child will have their own personality and obstacles, requiring appropriate measures and companionship, absolutely not letting them feel inferior or lonely in the journey of overcoming shortcomings and correcting mistakes.
To best help children, it is necessary to coordinate with parents, schools and other organizations and individuals, especially classmates. This is also consistent with the goal of building a united, autonomous and cohesive class.

As a homeroom teacher, what I keep in mind most is to buildclass learn happiness happiness.There, students will have a positive learning environment, develop their talents and strengths, and correct their mistakes and errors. They will have close friends, have joy when coming to class, have pride in the group, in the school they attend, and know how to build relationships. They will be given autonomy, self-management of the classroom, and self-solving problems that arise. The homeroom teacher plays the role of guiding, advising, and supporting when necessary. From that class, students will shape their own values, confidently strive to grow up.
Give teachers the opportunity to be creative

MissTeacher Nguyen Minh Hong:Experience initiatives are scientific works that draw new solutions, have practical applications, are very necessary for educational innovation, especially in the current period. If writing initiatives becomes a mandatory activity or only linked to the goal of emulation, it will become a formality, even a burden. When drawing initiatives is done from teaching practice, becomes an opportunity for teachers to be creative, improve professional qualifications, develop scientific research capacity, then that disease will certainly be eliminated.

Currently, the 2018 General Education Program opens up many potentials for applying new teaching methods, like a fertile field that can cultivate many creative ideas.
The solutions I have implemented are all in that spirit and come from the reality at Huynh Thuc Khang High School. Here, I have enjoyed many achievements of a school with a 105-year history, modern facilities, the cooperation of enthusiastic and experienced colleagues, and the encouragement of a vibrant scientific research movement... Therefore, as the author of a number of provincial-level initiatives, I feel very lucky to have been given so many opportunities.

Based on the program's objectives, inspired by the teaching process, I am interested in developing solutions related to skill training such as debate, communication and spreading reading culture.
The widespread implementation of these solutions helps to develop language skills, critical thinking, communication skills, etc. for students, contributing to creating for society comprehensive, dynamic, creative human factors in work, while also being proactive and flexible in response to the requirements arising in life. These are all issues of practical significance, in line with the demands of modern life today.
