Thanh searched for and linked with stores and individuals providing money and goods transfer services abroad, then tricked victims into transferring deposits to buy masks into the accounts Thanh provided.
To block all information, this woman deleted all social media accounts and continued to create new accounts to commit fraud.
With the above trick, in February 2020, Thanh successfully carried out 3 scams with a total amount of 380 million VND. In the "biggest" scam, Thanh defrauded and appropriated more than 270 million VND of the "deposit" to buy 860 boxes of masks (43,000 boxes) from Mr. Nguyen (residing in Ba Vi district, Hanoi).
Grasping Thanh's criminal behavior, using professional measures, the Investigation Police Agency of Hoan Kiem District Police determined that Nguyen Kim Thanh had returned to Vietnam and was hiding in Tan Hoa, Phu My, Ba Ria - Vung Tau. The Hoan Kiem District Police Working Group coordinated with professional units to take procedural measures against Thanh for investigation.
