On July 28, Major Tran Duc Than - Captain of the Drug Crime Investigation Team, Vinh City Police, said that the investigation agency had just urgently arrested 4 subjects in a drug ring from Laos to Vietnam.
Previously, during the investigation, the authorities discovered a drug trafficking ring from Laos to Vietnam through illegal routes at Thanh Thuy border gate, Thanh Chuong district. Vinh City Police decided to establish Project 513M to destroy this drug ring.
Subjects arrested in drug ring
After a period of reconnaissance, fighting, and modeling the subject, on the night of July 27 and early morning of July 28, when seeing a favorable opportunity, the task force decided to crack the case. At 2 a.m. on July 28, a working group ambushed on Dang Thai Than Street, Vinh City, intercepted and urgently arrested Tran Bao Danh (born in 1987), residing in Pho Chau Town, Huong Son District, Ha Tinh, confiscating 1 heroin cake on the spot. At the same time, another task force swooped in and urgently arrested Dau Dinh Long (born in 1978), residing in Hamlet 3, Hung Chinh, Vinh City, confiscating 1 heroin cake, and searched the house and arrested Nguyen Thi Thao (born in 1991), residing in Block 2, Doi Cung Ward, confiscating 220 ecstasy pills and 200 grams of crystal meth.
That same night, another working group arrived at Thanh Thuy commune, Thanh Chuong district, searched and arrested Dau Dinh Dong (born in 1972), confiscating a number of documents related to the drug line from Laos to Vietnam. Initially, the subjects admitted that in the past, they had bought heroin at Dong's house, divided it into small quantities to resell to agents in Vinh city and Ha Tinh.
Authorities said Nguyen Thi Thao is a notorious criminal who was sentenced to a total of 20 years in prison for trafficking in white death, but the sentence was suspended because she was raising a young child. Taking advantage of this time, Thao continued to trade in white goods and was arrested.
The case is currently being investigated and expanded.
