The Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health has just sent a report to the Ministry of Health in response to the exemption of hospital fees for Le Thi Ha Vi, a female student who had an accident and was then delayed in transferring by Cu Kuin District Hospital, leading to her leg having to be amputated last March 2016.

According to the report of the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health, during the treatment of patient Le Thi Ha Vi in Dak Lak, the family did not have to pay hospital fees; and when the patient was treated at central hospitals, the Minister of Health also directed that all fees be waived.

As of April 15, the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health and Cu Kiun Hospital have supported patient Vi with 45 million VND and Cu Kuin Hospital will continue to support 23 million VND in advance payment for hospital fees at the Ho Chi Minh City Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital.

Previously, Deputy Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management Tran Quy Tuong said: On the afternoon of March 16, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management issued Official Dispatch No. 250/KCB-QLCL requesting the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health to exempt the costs of medical examination, treatment and prosthetic leg fitting for patient Le Thi Ha Vi.

After the press reported that Vi's family received a request to pay 23 million VND in hospital fees during her treatment at the Ho Chi Minh City Orthopedic and Trauma Hospital, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management requested the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health to urgently verify the information, clarify the contents mentioned in the press, and report to the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management before April 25 on the payment of medical examination and treatment costs for this female student during her treatment.

It is known that on April 7, the Dak Lak Department of Health called for donations from local medical units to support patient Vi. The final donation deadline is before April 30 and then the Dak Lak Department of Health will make a savings book for Vi. As of April 15, the amount of support has reached 153 million VND.
